Beautiful Earth Barrier Cream Review

Recently we were asked to review the Beautiful Earth Barrier Cream. Beautiful Earth is an amazing range of 100% natural personal care products, sold to both the individual consumers and the hospitality industry. This brand is no stranger to Super Mom Blog, as we have done reviews of their products before, which you can see here.

The BE Barrier Cream contains Calendula and Benzoin essential oils, which act as a natural barrier to protect delicate skin against wetness.  Also very effective for treating nappy rash. Apply a thin layer on baby’s bottom before putting on a nappy. ~ BE

Below is the feedback we received about the Barrier Cream, from Lyndsay, who is a mom to four boys:

Her initial thought, was that the cream was quite thin in consistency. “As a ‘Barrier Cream’ I was expecting something quite a bit thicker, much like other products on the market. It goes on really well and sinks in without leaving a greasy residue; you could even use it as an all over body cream.” When she applied it to her baby son’s bum, it was almost transparent so she was initially hesitant that it would act like a barrier cream, but she was pleasantly surprised. He had no adverse reaction to it (and her boys all have problematic, eczema prone skin) and his bum was smooth and clear.

The product does have a fairly strong smell – not unpleasant but something different to what you would normally associate with a baby product, again her son is very sensitive to most products, so she normally buys fragrance free products.

Thank you Lyndsay for your feedback!

I think that sometimes natural products are somewhat different to their more synthetically processed counterparts and do not necessarily smell or feel the same, but in essence if they do the same job and we are doing something for the environment in the process, we should at least give them try. ~ Super Mom Blog

Lief South Africa Anniversary Giveaway

Lief is a typically Dutch brand, established in the Netherlands in 2005. It was set up as a small collection of high quality baby clothing with texts like ‘lief! and stoer!’ {Respectively meaning, sweet and cool} printed on them.

The brand has developed into a lifestyle concept, including baby articles such as cuddly toys, bedding and books. From day one, the concept was a success. Based on Dutch designs, it has flourished into a wide-ranging lifestyle brand. Not only does it  include high quality clothing for babies and toddlers, but also stationary, personal care products, window decoration, bags, bed and bath textiles, paint, soft toys, furniture, wallpaper, wall decoration and playroom accessories.

Within only six years, lief lifestyle has realized over 170 points of sale, including 17 flagship stores all over Europe, and is developing markets in the Middle East.

In June 2012, lief decided to introduce their stunning products, to the South African market and launched their online webshop.

It has also been a lifelong ambition of Lief, founder, Yvonne Woudsta, to give back to society and be able to do something for those less fortunate, especially babies and children, in need. Thanks to the success of Lief, her dream has been realized. Lief supports Orange Babies, a charity organization whose main goal is to help HIV-infected (pregnant) women and their babies in Africa. Lief also supports the project Hope Village, in Namibia, this orphanage, provides refuge to children up to the age of 18. (Lief provides 100% of the financing for the baby and toddler department).

To celebrate the 1st year anniversary of lief in South Africa, two lucky readers can each win a lief  T-shirt – one for a girl in fuchsia pink – with lief! (sweet) written on it and one for a boy, in turquoise – with stoer! (cool) written on it.

PetiteBox

Last week I went to the launch of PetiteBox South Africa. PetiteBox is along the same lines as Glossybox (a subscription based beauty box) and has actually been launched by the same ladies who started Glossybox SA. The fundamental difference is that PetiteBox is aimed at moms – moms-to-be or new moms, and is also perfect as a gift for friends and family.

We created PetiteBox to offer a service that supports new parents as well as their babies. We provide you with only the best mom and baby products and latest advice throughout pregnancy and new motherhood. ~ PetiteBox

Watch my  Youtube video review to find out more detail about what is in the PetiteBox.

The world of pregnancy and being a new mom can be somewhat daunting, merely because it is something unknown, never mind knowing what vitamins to take or what products will suit you or your baby. There is just so much to take in and so many decisions to make, as well as so many well-meaning people dishing out unsolicited advice! It can all be overwhelming. This is where PetiteBox comes in, to take the stress and pain out of the decision-making! They provide you with all the goodies you may need at whatever stage you are of your pregnancy or they can tailor your PetiteBox according to your baby’s age, if you are already a mom. It could not be more perfect and it simply takes the hassle out of deciding what products are right for you, as you can try out the samples and test the products in your box and then make informed decisions before you buy them yourself.

A Monthly Subscription PetiteBox

A Monthly Subscription PetiteBox

So how can you order your PetiteBox? Easy, simply register to receive a beautiful monthly box with 3-5 premium mom and baby products. The other option if you are looking for a gift for a friend or family member is to send them one of the gift boxes PetiteBox offer. They also offer a free courier delivery service to your home or office. The subscription box can be bought on a monthly, 3-month or 6-month basis, as well as the various once-off gift options, such as a Baby Shower, Hospital or Pregnancy Gift Box. A monthly subscription will cost you R130.00 per month and a gift box costs R345.00 once off.
