Style Trends Spring 2012

Two major fashion trends that were big last season and continue to pop up everywhere you look are bright patterns or florals and studding detail. As we move into the warmer spring and summer months in South Africa we are seeing more dresses and skirts with pretty floral patterns, both brights and pastels. Floral Jackets are still a big fashion trend, with the main change being the lighter-weight fabric for spring/summer.

Stud detail is a trend which is big in all aspects of fashion, from accessories and shoes, to jackets and trousers. Gold spiked bracelets and rings adorn the wrists and fingers of the fashion forward and if gold is not your thing then you will also find these bracelets and rings in pretty pastels – perfect for spring/summer.

These are a few of the style trends that you will see in store at the moment and you can really bling-it-up and make a fashion statement or just subtly add an element of it in to your wardrobe for a bit of extra WOW!

Glittery Clutch from Accessorize

I thought I would share this gorgeous glittery clutch with you, it is one of my latest accessory purchases from Accessorize. We have a family wedding happening next month and I eventually managed to find the perfect dress last week, at Jo Borkett in Cavendish Square. Needless to say the dress is but one piece of the puzzle, every outfit needs accessories and shoes! As luck would have it I found this beautiful clutch from Accessorize {just the right amount of bling!} the very same day! Now I am working on a pair of peep-toe nude wedges – if anyone has seen any please let me know! 🙂

Look of the Week

My look of the week this week features the gorgeous Blake Lively, we see her here at the Savages premiere, in a yellow Bohemian style Gucci gown. This beautiful Gucci gown shows off Blake’s assets to the fullest, with its super sexy plunging halter neckline and accentuated waistline. I love the turquoise accents from her accessories which lends a slightly more playful element to the whole look and not to forget her trendy fishtail plait. An overall smoulderingly hot ensemble!

Style Colour Trends

I have become slightly obsessed with the gorgeous jewel tones that are taking the fashion world by storm. Beautiful shades of amethyst, sapphire, emerald, teal, ruby, garnet and citrine are every where you look, from accessories to nail polish. I thought I would share a few of the jewel-toned accessories that have found their way into my wardrobe recently.

Style colour trends have moved away from the brighter neon colours and in their place you will find this gloriously rich colour palette. If you are not very adventurous with colour, then start by introducing the palette in your accessories.

This is one of my favourite Essie shades for winter, Trophy Wife, a gorgeous deep teal with a beautiful pearl sparkle. I have also found beautiful jewel toned eye-shadows from Revlon, which you can find out more about here.

A few jewel toned styles from the catwalk and high-end fashion boutiques this season, for a bit of style inspiration.
