Beauty Pick of the Week

My beauty pick of the week this week is Fiber Lash Brush On Lashes by Model co. Fiber Lashes are brush on lash extensions in a bottle! I have never been one for falsies but this sounded like a great idea, so I thought I had to give it a try. It will not be replacing my daliy mascara but it is great for the evening, especially if you are wanting to create a bit more of a dramatic eye.

There are two bottles in the box, one which contains the Extension Mascara and the other contains the Fiber Lashes. It is very easy to apply, firstly you apply the Extension Mascara, you then apply the Fiber Lashes over the mascara, followed by a second coat of mascara. It gives you a great effect without the hassle of false eyelashes. Below you can see my how to video:

It is also very easy to remove afterwards, just use your normal eye make remover on a cotton pad – it is as simple as that.

The recommended retail price is R340.00 – For local stockists click over to Luxury Cosmetics Website.

Equinox Spa Cape Royale

On Tuesday morning I was treated to a wonderful spa experience at the Equinox Spa Cape Royale, in Green Point Cape Town. The timing could not have been more perfect as the girls went back to school on Tuesday as well, so it was indeed a bit of much-needed, rather self indulgent “me-time”.

The Cape Royale is situated in Green Point overlooking the grandiose Green Point Stadium and is perfectly positioned just outside the Cape Town CBD and the V&A Waterfront making it perfect for businesses and leisure travellers.

Upon arrival at the hotel I was greeted by a door man adorned in a top hat and tails and escorted through the elegant reception area, to the elevators which take you up to the Equinox Spa. The decor in the spa is magnificent, luxurious with a hint of drama. A monochromatic colour scheme is punctuated with bursts of colour. Black and white damask wallpaper adorns the walls and a beautiful ornate chandelier in the reception area gives the spa an almost ethereal feeling.

I was greeted by the friendly staff who showed me to the changing area, fully equipped with lockers and showers for guests to use. I was asked to change into a crisp white robe and shown to a waiting area, here I was offered cucumber flavoured water and a selection of healthy nibbles. My therapist Zama then took me to the treatment room which was warm and inviting. I was then treated to an hour-long hot candle massage, which is not a treatment that I have had before so I was very intrigued to experience it for the first time.

The oil that collects at the top of the burning candle, is used for the massage, it felt sublime on my skin. The hot oil is said to relieve muscle pain and stimulate blood circulation in the body. Needless to say the treatment was amazing, from the beautifully scented candle, raspberry and lavender I believe, to the gloriously warm and soothing oil the candle produces – I was in heaven! The massage itself was wonderful, with just the necessary amount of pressure, I tend to carry my stress in my neck and shoulders so there were lots of knots to work out.

Equinox is a realm of indulgence, offering individualized professional therapies with a touch of couture elegance

I would definitely recommend a visit to the Equinox Spa and I will definitely be back there in the future to experience more of their world-class treatments. To find out more about the spa and other treatments they offer, visit their website here.

I loved the experience so much that I would like to treat one of my lucky readers to a Nimue Facial!

Beauty Pick of the Week

My beauty pick of the week this week is a new foundation, Fluidsplash 3in1, I am trying by Model co.  Model co is a cult beauty brand based in Sydney, Australia and is the creation of former model agent Shelley Barrett.

Fluidsplash 3 in 1 Foundation is a revolutionary oil-free liquid foundation that comes with a concealer & eye base conveniently hidden in the lid. What an awesome idea! Now instead of having to carry three products in your purse you just need one! It is perfect for those touch-ups on the run, before a hot date or business meeting. Fluidsplash  feels super light on your skin, giving you a natural dewy finish.

A buildable, deeply hydrating water based formula with over 50% water content that lets you achieve the coverage you desire – a flattering & long-lasting finish without a heavy effect.

Fluidsplash is enriched with Vitamin E & Aloe Vera, making it is easy to blend. The eye base will give you longer wear from your eye shadow and the concealer will help to cover up blemishes, giving you an overall flawless finish.

ModelCo creates premium beauty products for high demand consumers that are smart, quick-fix, multi-purpose and unique. The formulations, applications & packaging are revolutionary and of a premium quality. Each product cleverly combines cutting-edge creativity and technical innovation.

Beauty Pick of the Week

My beauty pick of the week this week is from Rimmel London. One of my many beauty addictions is lipgloss, I have one for every shade of lipstick I wear, as I love to blend them. I usually use the Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss but I decided to try the Rimmel Vinyl Max Lipgloss for a change, the colour is No.401 Obsession.

It promises to be a “One stroke maxi shine lipgloss” and it certainly lives up to that promise. Above you can see with just one application you have gorgeous shiny lips, I did apply a bit of lip liner before hand to prevent the gloss bleeding. It smells good enough to eat and I love the plummy colour, it matches in so well with all the stunning jewel tones I am currently wearing. It is also long-lasting!

Caviar Manicure

Just when you think you have seen it all, along comes another trend to completely surprise you and challenge your ideas of conventional beauty. I know that I am certainly not ahead of the curve with this one but I have been admiring this new trend from the side-lines, to see if it holds any water! I must now confess that I am intrigued! What exactly is a Caviar Manicure? Well essentially this concept developed by Ciaté requires an application of  caviar-like pearls, over a base coat of nail polish, to create a rather wow 3 dimensional  effect.

The caviar manicure is currently available in three colour ways: Rainbow, Black Pearls and Mother of Pearl.

The inspiration behind the Caviar Manicure™ came about when Charlotte, Ciaté’s Creative Director, was looking to create 3-dimensional nails for a front cover magazine shoot and wanted to develop something feminine, indulgent yet delicately extravagant.

I thought I would include Ciaté’s  instructional video on how to apply the manicure:

The caviar manicure is definitely a bit different, statement nails if you like! So what are your thoughts would this be a trend you would follow, something you would try?
