Maybelline Master Kajal Khol Liner

Maybelline-Master-Kajal-Khol liner

I love eyeliner! As a teenager I think my first “proper” makeup purchase {lip gloss does not count} was a blue – yes blue eyeliner. Who knew that coloured eyeliner would be all the rage again!

Maybelline Master Kajal Kohl Liner

Now days my go-to eyeliner is usually a black liquid liner, in fact my all time favourite liquid liner is the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner.

At a recent Maybelline Event we received a range of the Maybelline Master Kajal Kohl Liners. I must admit I was immediately intrigued by the rather unusual shape of the liners!

Maybelline-Master-Kajal-Khol liner

The unique cone-shaped Kajal liner is infused with oriental oils and highly concentrated colour pigments. For those of you who do not know, kajal is actually a black powder used in South Asia as a cosmetic, either around the eyes or as a mark on the forehead.

Maybelline-Master-Kajal-liner

The Master Kajal liners are available in three colours: Pitch Black, Lapis Blue and Oriental Gold. The idea with the Kajal liners are to use them sideways, using the cone-shaped tip to define the eye. You do do not have to sharpen the liner but would need to use it sideways to keep the tip sharp. It can also be used to line your waterline. I have never really been big on using liner in my waterline, as I have such sensitive eyes and end up looking like I have been crying for days or gone ten rounds in a boxing ring.

So my thoughts on these liners! I have only tried the Pitch Black and Oriental Gold liner. Pitch Black applies smoothly but I did find it smudges quite easily and does not give me as much definition, as a liquid liner does. I have probably used Oriental Gold the most out of the two and even used it in my waterline, it is quite glittery, so perhaps better suited for evening. I did find Oriental Gold a bit harder to apply on my upper lid and not quite as smooth as Pitch Black.

Overall I think these liners do what they say they will do, which is to create a more seductive intense look. They are not waterproof and tend to smudge but this makes them much easier to blend and create a smokey eye.

March & April Beauty Favourites

March April Favourites

I am afraid everything has been super hectic over past few months and some how March flew by without me getting around to doing a Beauty Favourites post! So I thought I would do a combined post of the past two months favourites! So here goes with my March & April Beauty Favourites:

March April Favourites

After taking all the photographs, I realised that this post is focused on hand and nail care, which was not planned but I think is vital, especially going into winter.

Revlon-Lip-Butter-Creme-Brulee

 • Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Crème Brulee ~ These Lip Butters are perfect if you are looking for a lip balm with a bit of a tint. The Revlon Lip Butters contain mango, shea and coconut butter, which are super hydrating and leave your lips feeling really soft. This is the second Revlon Lip Butter I have bought, the other one I own is Tutti Fruitti, which is a much brighter coral colour, while Crème Brulee is a creamy nude shade. This shade is perfect for everyday, as it is subtle sheer to medium colour, with a kissable buttery shine. RRP R135 available online from Zando. {Disclosure Ranking:1}

Blend Box Soft Body Scrub

 • Blend Box Soft Body Scrub ~ This product was love at first smell! I love body scrubs and have tried quite a few but this one smells amazing, it reminds me of warm orange cake just out of the oven! This sugar scrub gently exfoliates, while a blend of essential oils, soften your skin and leave it feeling amazing. RRP R100, available online from Hello Pretty. {Disclosure Ranking:2}

Sally-Hansen-Cuticle-Massage Cream

 • Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream ~ A very important part of hand and nail care is looking after your cuticles! Each time I give myself a manicure, I make sure than I push my cuticles back and moisturise them. The Sally Hansen Cuticle Cream is an intensive treatment for your cuticles, it is rich in apricot oil but absorbs quickly into the skin, while deeply moisturising. It also soothes painful hangnails and torn cuticles. Tip: Massaging cuticles with this cream increases circulation to the nail bed, which helps stimulate new nail growth, for smooth, healthy-looking nails and cuticles. RRP R82.95 available online from Rubybox. {Disclosure Ranking:1}

Sally-Hansen-Nail-&-Cuticle Oil

 • Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil ~ This is the perfect remedy for brittle nails, torn and dry cuticles or hangnails! This Vitamin E-enriched cuticle oil contains added wheat germ, apricot kernel extract and safflower oils to help soften, moisturise and protect nails and cuticles. I love the brush applicator, which makes it super easy to apply. Apply a small amount to each nail and massage gently into your nails and cuticles. The oil is quickly absorbed, moisturing both the cuticles, as well as the skin around the nails. You can apply as often as you need to but I prefer to use this at night before I go to bed. RRP R79.95 available from online from Rubybox.{Disclosure Ranking:1}

Nimue Active Hand Repair

 • Nimue Active Hand Repair ~ I have always been quite religious with using hand cream regularly and make sure I have a tube in my handbag at all times! The colder weather can really make your hands extremely dry, so I think it is important to beef up your hand-care during autumn and winter. I am also very aware that as you age, your hands can become dry and lined and no one wants old looking hands! The Nimue Active Hand Repair contains AHA’s{Alpha Hydroxy Acids}, which improve skin texture, appearance of age spots and exfoliate dead, damaged skin. This product contain Kigelia Africana plant extracts, which assist in several skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, solar keratosis, skin rashes and restores the skin.The only thing I dislike about this product is the smell, I cannot pin-point exactly what I don’t like but it smells slightly spicy, which may be from the Kigelia Africana plant extract – odd I know but I guess I can put up with the smell, if it means younger looking hands! 🙂 RRP Please consult a salon near you. {Disclosure Ranking:2}

Essie-Over-The-Top

 • Essie Over The Top ~ When I googled this nail polish shade, Essie dot.com comes up with Over The Edge. The colours seem the same, so not sure why the different name but I absolutely love this dramatic metallic midnight silver. You will definitely see it on my nails often during winter, black nail polish is a bit harsh for me, so this is the next nest thing. Over The Top is an awesome colour and have received so many compliments when I wear it! It paints really well and as long as you apply a top coat, it does not chip and lasts very well. RRP R109 available online from Zando {Disclosure Ranking:1}

Essie-Good-To-Go-Top-Coat

 • Essie Good To Go Top Coat ~ For me a top coat is a must and I tend to only use Essie products when it comes to top and base coats! I have tried other products but nothing comes close to the drying or staying power of Essie. Their products may be more expensive than most other drugstore brands but in my opinion, they are worth the money. Good To Go, sets your nail polish in seconds and creates an almost gel-like finish. RRP R175 available from Dischem. {Disclosure Ranking:1}

SKNLogic Renew Foot Balm

 • SKNLogic Renew Foot Balm ~ As important as keeping your hands hydrated, your feet also need some pampering! I try to remember to use a heel balm every night but every second night is also fine. This ultra-rich hydrating foot balm, deeply helps to repair, soothe, revitalize and protect dry, tired feet. It also smells amazing and absorbs quickly into your skin. I am on my feet quite a bit during the day and I also run a few times a week, so my feet tend to become quite dry even in winter. I find rubbing a soothing balm into my feet, after a long day, not only moisturises the skin but helps my fatigued feet relax! The SKNLogic Renew Foot Balm combines hydrating Sunflower oil, Wheat germ oil, Fig & Cucumber extract, orange oil and Shea Butter to help soothe sore joints, hydrate and protect extremely dry, cracked skin. RRP R85.00 Visit the SKNLogic website to locate a stockist near you. {Disclosure Ranking:2}

Beauty, Beauty Favourites, Hair

Inoar Argan Oil

Inoar Argan Oil

I am one of those people who has extremely fine, fly-away hair and heat styling my hair everyday definitely does not do me any favours! About a year ago someone suggested I try an oil treatment on my hair before styling. I must admit I was rather skeptical, as my hair tends to become very greasy very easily.

Inoar Argan Oil

After trying quite a few different treatment oils available on the market, I managed to find one which did not weigh my hair down but rather left it feeling silky smooth and looking great. Sadly that bottle is now finished and I have not yet had a chance to repurchased it.

Luckily for me I received the little bottle of magic above, at an Inoar launch, which I attended recently – perfect timing or what!

Argan Nuts

Extracted from the nut of the Argan tree in Morocco, Argan Oil contains active ingredients known worldwide for its beneficial abilities to create extraordinary shine, condition and protect the hair from harsh elements.

The Inoar Argan Oil eliminates frizz and provides thermal protection for the hair, delivering silky, smooth and luxurious tresses. This hydrating Oil can also be utilized in hair coloring processes and deep conditioning treatments.

I apply the Argan Oil to clean damp hair but be warned you only need to use the tiniest amount. Gently rub through the hair and comb out, then style as you usually would. The first time I used the oil I used far too much and rubbed it into the ends of my hair, which left my hair looking rather greasy. So the smallest amount goes a long way and remember do not rub it vigorously into your hair.

This Argan Oil really is the business! It is great to untangle knots and smooths down any flyaway bits, leaving your hair smooth and beautifully shiny! RRP: Inoar Argan Home Care Oil 60ml R 434.00

Rating:[usr=4 img=”03.png”]

If you would like to find out prices or more about this an other Inoar products you can visit the Inoar Website.

Maybelline Baby Lips South Africa

Maybelline Baby Lips South Africa

Maybelline Baby Lips South Africa

I have a rather obsessive love of lip balms, you will find one or two{maybe more} in each of my handbags, so that when I change bags I am never without! You will definitely find a few in my car, hidden in strategic places 🙂 I will not go off on a run without having some form of lip balm with me! Ok so now that you understand my love of lip balms, we can continue with this review.

My love of or slight obsession with lip balms, was probably born out of the need to constantly keep my lips hydrated. I suffer from quite dry lips and have a tendency to lick my lips, which means I need to constantly reapply, whatever I am wearing on my lips.

There are so many various brands of lip balms on the market, which promise soft hydrated lips but sadly they fail to deliver. Either they are way too sticky, smell like plastic{alarming but true} or leave your lips feeling more parched than they did before. Imagine my delight when I received a selection of the Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms to try! I had heard so much about Baby Lips but had not had the opportunity to get my hands on them yet.

Maybelline-Baby-Lips3

Baby Lips otherwise known as the Champion of Lip Balms, is now available in South Africa in six variants: Hydrate, Intense Care, Mint Fresh, Cherry Me, Pink Punch and Peach Kiss. The balms contain a secret lip renew formula, which stimulates natural collagen production, as well as protecting and moisturising the lips.

Whats not to love? The packaging is super cute and all the fragrances are just right, not over powering at all! I found them all quite hydrating and the slightly tinted ones, give you just that hint of colour on your lips. Then there is the price – R24.95 you certainly cannot go wrong with that!

After trying all the variants I have definite favourites! Although I love the pretty colour and smell of both Pink Punch and Cherry Me – a hands down winner for me, is Mint Fresh! It has a subtle minty smell and a slight tingle, it wakes up your lips and leaves them feeling wonderfully soft.

So all in all these cutie lip balms get a thumbs up from me and are a definite favourite!

Be Inspired, Beauty

My Dove Beauty Is Journey

Dove Beauty Is

So what is the one thing that so many woman the world over struggle with? Believing that they are Beautiful! I know that “Beauty” probably means something different to everyone but I think the main issue with the world today, is we judge to harshly and too quickly. Whether it be about someones looks, the car they drive or how successful they are. Instead of judging others, we should be building them up and affirming them!

The-Girls

I am a mom to two of the most gorgeous creatures on this planet{biased I know} but this means one of my main jobs, is to help them form a healthy and balanced sense of self-worth! I try to teach them that beauty is not only about the physical but more about being yourself and accepting yourself and others warts and all! This is not always easy when the world and media try to dictate to them, what “Beauty” should be.

Dove Beauty Is

The problem is, often, we have our own insecurities and issues, which we are dealing with and this can make it difficult, to encourage and affirm others! This is why when I was approached about the Dove Beauty Is campaign, I could not think of a more perfect journey to go on and I am hoping you will join me in the discovery of what Beauty Is.

Be your own kind of beautiful

This is my bare it all, honest account of my journey as a woman and what I think Beauty Is!

Growing up, I was for the most part confident and happy with my looks and my body. I was very athletic and enjoyed being outdoors. I admit that I did prescribe to the stereotype  – you have to have a great body and attractive features to be beautiful! Did I have moments of self doubt, definitely but I guess when you are young it does not affect you as much.

My main sense of insecurity definitely came post child birth! Both your body and life are changed dramatically! Yes, there is definitely joy in becoming a mom but I won’t lie, there are moments which are not that great! After the birth of my first daughter, the once confident person, I used to be, vanished! For almost four years, I struggled with feelings of self-doubt and anxiety but with the help and encouragement of others, especially my hubby, I managed to bounce back! I will not deny that this period of my life, left me with a few scars but it is how you overcome the difficulties in life, that really matters.

A few years after the birth of my second daughter I started developing pigmentation, having always had flawless skin, this really affected my self confidence! At first I tried every treatment known to man, only to be told that the pigmentation was in fact hormonal and that there is nothing much that can be done about it. My best bet, would be to simply look after my skin and try and prevent the pigmentation from getting darker.

My options were to allow the fact I have pigmentation to ruin my life or accept it and not allow it to define who I am!

Fiona Rossiter

Then came 40!!! This was something I was so unprepared for, it really affected me and not in a positive way. I kept hearing people saying that your 40’s are your best years but all I could see was my body changing and horror of all horrors – fine lines appearing!

It took me the better part of a year to accept the fact, that I was indeed 40 and there was nothing I could do but embrace it! What I have learnt from my journey thus far as a modern, 41 year old woman and a mom, is that I am my own worst critic! I have always judged myself too harshly but call it maturity, I have realised, that I am in fact beautiful and most importantly, I have people around me who love me and think I am beautiful, “scars”, fine lines and all!

So to answer the question – What I think Beauty Is… I think that Beauty Is a state of mind, sure there is the physical manifestation but if you don’t believe it deep down, then it is not real!

Dove Patches

After watching the Dove Patches video, it really hit home how powerful the mind can be, both from a positive and negative perspective, especially when it comes to how we perceive ourselves. I think this video is really worth watching:

I would love you to answer the same question, I did, in the comment section below – “I think Beauty Is…” ps.There could be a little surprise for a few readers who answer this question 😉
