We will be celebrating Heritage Day, in South Africa, this Saturday 24th September. Being a Capetonian and most certainly – Proudly South African, there is so much to celebrate! We are a nation made up of diverse cultures, with a rather complicated history but we are a fiercely proud “people”. [Read more…]
4 Things You Must Do When You Visit Cape Town:
Top Things to do in Cape Town
- First and foremost you have to take a trip up Table Mountain, it is the most spectacularly beautiful view you will probably see in the city. Those looking for adventure can climb it but those less inclined can enjoy the splendour from the comfort of the Cableway. Either way be sure and pick a clear, non-windy day.
- Cape Point is another one of our many amazing attractions, the views are out of this world and if you walk up to the top viewing point you can see almost the entire Western Cape. For those who are not as energetic (yes ok – lazy) there is a tram service, the “Flying Dutchman Funicular”, which you can take up to the Cape Point light house.
- A visit to Kirstenbosch gardens is also a must, exploring our acclaimed National Botanical Gardens is a delightful way to spend a sunny afternoon. You can just wonder around the gardens and soak up nature or you can enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants in the gardens.
- Last but certainly not least is a visit to the Cape Winelands, you can start in the Constantia Valley and travel as far as Paarl and Robertson but my favourite, as I have mentioned before, is definitely Franschhoek. You can venture out on your own or join one of the many wine tours on offer.
No matter what you choose to do, you will definitely have fun exploring our amazing city – The Mother City, Cape Town!
My Spaces – Cape Town Beauty
Cape Town Beauty
I am fortunate to be able to say, that I live in one of the most beautiful cites in the world – Cape Town. I am reminded of this daily, as I drive over the mountain to fetch my girls from school; the spectacular views make the otherwise mindless commute worthwhile. These are a few of the images that I captured recently, using my iPhone – no I was not driving at the time! I loved the weird but wonderful cloud formations in some of the photos. They showcase the amazing beauty, that is the “Mother City”.

My Spaces – Home-grown Beauty
The philosophy I am trying to adopt for my life is, not to lose sight of the beauty that surrounds me, to be mindful of it and thankful for it every day. I am extremely fortunate to live, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful cities in the world – Cape Town! The suburb that we live in is more of a “country hamlet” than a “suburban metropolis” – much more suited to peaceful living.
Living in the “country” has its cons, one of which is the travelling. We have often considered moving closer to the girl’s school, as we are quite far away, but then all you need to do is wake up in the morning and look out at the sea. You instantly forget about the travelling issues you may have.
I decided to take a leisurely, rather introspective, stroll around the garden the other day, a sunny winter’s day -to enjoy the splendour that is literally in my “back garden”. I did not pass up the photo-op that presented itself and took a few photographs. I was amazed at the magnificence in a simple Daisy bush and the wonder of a humble butterfly.
So I hope you enjoy my “Home-grown” beauty as much as I did!

"My Spaces" – West Coast Sunset

On our last trip up the West Coast, of Cape Town, we visited the seaside town of Langebaan. Which we frequent because of the lovely beach-side cafes and restaurant’s to dine in. We were fortunate enough to witness, an extraordinary sunset when we arrived; I grabbed the opportunity and shot some wonderful photographs. I love capturing sunsets; there is something truly magical about them and I am always left in awe of the magnitude of beauty that surrounds us.
