After a much needed long weekend break in Franschhoek, my favourite place to be, I am ready for new challenges. I feel refocused and inspired, long may it last. I am slowly starting to realise, that as long as I stay true to myself and do the things that I love and believe in, the rest will fall into place.

Very often the only thing holding us back from realising our full potential is our own fear of failure. How often have you not thought, “I would love to do that but…”
In many situations I have felt that I wish I had the confidence to just take that first step, because it is only in the trying that we are forced to face our fears head on. I am reminded of this fact daily, as I venture further into this rather technical world of blogging. It has forced me out of my comfort zone and made me realise that if you want something badly enough you will make it happen.
I have also found that as a parent, you are constantly forced out of your comfort zone, often having to face the things you feared most growing up. What we always try and encourage our girls to realise, is that as long they make their best effort, that is good enough.
So whatever you are facing today, realise that you are good enough and if you do not try you might miss the best opportunity of your life.

On this cold and windy Winters day, in Cape Town,what are you doing? If I could, I would rather be cuddling up with a coffee and reading a wonderful book, than doing housework and running school taxi! So for those of you who can, grab a book , ‘Be Calm” and stay warm!

We would all love to change the world, leave our mark, so that when we leave this world, people will remember us for eternity. This is quite a momentous task to try and achieve, so why do we not just start with the small things. Make a difference right where we are: smile at that person that cuts you off in traffic, when you say you will do something – actually do it, recycle more, greet someone even if they do not greet you, say ‘how are you?’ and actually mean it and just maybe you will change someone’s life just a little bit.
My challenge for today is to find that ‘extra’ and to be ‘extra-ordinary’. Have a great Monday!

At this point in my life the most difficult thing for me, is to relinquish control over my destiny. All of me, body and soul would like to determine who I am going to be and where I am going. I am slowly realising that actually, I am not in control.
This could sound quite bizarre to some people but it’s not to say that I do not make choices and follow a certain path but all these things are pre-determined, by a far higher power. I guess it’s like trying to paint in the dark, you have the vision of what you would like the painting to look like but you are unable to determine the colours and you cannot see the canvas. Yes, the result would probably be a complete mess! I guess God is like the light, He helps you see what the end product should look like, and He gives you the plan and the skills to get there. You just need to be willing.
A great deal of what we experience in life is beyond our understanding and fighting destiny, is not a comfortable place to be. So my challenge is to take a step back and let God work in my life, however hard this may be for me.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
