I am always inspired by design, especially in decor and I love to implement ideas I see into my own home. I would probably say my style is somewhat eclectic, a mixture of modern and classic pieces.
I love art and like nothing better than finding that perfect piece that suits the mood of a room. It is amazing that even a mirror has become a piece of art. My favourite area to forage for of style ideas is in Franschhoek. From the beautiful surroundings, inspiring architecture, to the wonderfully decorated guest houses, it is a design junkies paradise.
I found this amazing blog Design Mind filled with design and decor I would love to have in my own home or guest house one day. It typifies the combination of modern decor with a whimsical twist and forgetting classical elegance, that I love so much.
I love the monochromatic theme in the room below. I stayed in a guest house in Franschhoek that had used the same ideas and it was stunning. It was both elegant and stylish. It definitely captured the feeling of cosmopolitan – grandeur and whisked you off to another city – perhaps even New York.
These are a few photographs from my own house displaying the type of simple style I love.
Have a great weekend and travel safely if you are heading off on holiday. We are off to our family holiday cottage on the West Coast and I will hopefully come back with beautiful new photographs to upload.
