MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet Celebrates 20 Years

One of South Africa’s most significant community fundraising initiatives, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, is celebrating their 20 Year Anniversary!

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet

The MySchool initiative, launched in 1997, set out to empower consumers to make a difference to education, by giving back. To date, the programme has grown significantly and raises over R6 million monthly. Funds raised, provide support for a wide range of schools, charities and conservation organisations. With over 1.2 million supporters and R500 million raised, what an incredible 20 years it has been!

Sign Up and Support

Tears Animal Rescue

If you are not already a MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet supporter, then I encourage you to signup for a free card. Once signed up, simply swipe your card when you shop at any of the retail partner stores. A percentage of your purchase will be given back, on your behalf, to a beneficiary of your choice.

The MySchool programme was initially exclusive to schools, only allowing schools to sign up as beneficiaries. The programme has, however, been extended to include charitable organisations and other worthy causes. MyVillage organisations are charities that care for people; MyPlanet organisations care for animals and the planet.

Tears Animal Rescue

I have been an avid MySchool supporter for many years and always swipe my card when I shop. As part of their 20 Year celebration, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet is very generously donating R5000 on my behalf, to Tears Animal Rescue, who is my beneficiary of choice. I do support other charities but Tears is very close to my heart! Animals, unlike humans, cannot fend for themselves or let someone know when they are in need. Tears do a fantastic job of animal rescue and care, and I know that they can use all the financial support they can get.

Share and Win!

As part of the #MySchool20 campaign, we would like you to swipe not only your card but also share your favourite cause, and what matters most to you. By sharing which cause you support, using the #MySchool20 hashtag, on Facebook or Twitter, 20 lucky customers can each win a R20 000 Woolworths gift card, as well as a R20 000 cash donation, to their school or charity of choice.

To enter:

  • Tweet your support sharing your favourite charity or cause to @MySchoolSA using the hashtag #MySchool20
  • Share your favourite charity or cause on Facebook @MySchoolSA using the hashtag #MySchool20
  • The competition commences on 20 October 2017 and closes at Midnight on 8 November 2017.
  • This competition is run by MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet; please see the link to full Terms & Conditions.
