Grant and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa in Somerset West for a night, and the experience was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm welcome and impeccable service provided by the staff.
The Erinvale Estate Hotel
Nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands, this five-star Hotel offers the perfect combination of luxury, comfort, and relaxation. With its stunning views, top-notch amenities, and exceptional service, Erinvale Estate Hotel and Spa is the ultimate destination for a luxury Helderberg stay.
The stunning property boasts well-manicured indigenous gardens with 300-year-old oak trees, a beautiful pool area, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
The Rooms
Erinvale Estate Hotel offers guest accommodations ranging from Contemporary Classic Rooms to Suites, all with ensuite bathrooms. Stunning art and photography adorn the walls, complemented by vibrant decor and modern luxury.
Key amenities include TheraVine products, a 55” Samsung Art Frame Smart Television, DSTV (Satellite Television), Complimentary Fibre, Air-conditioning, Heating and Cooling, a Nespresso Machine, USB ports and international adaptors, as well as an Electronic Safe.
Our suite was spacious and beautifully decorated. It boasted a dining area and a lounge with a fireplace, making it ideal for a romantic evening with a bottle of the best local wine. The extra-length kingsize bed, with Sanders 600 thread-count cotton linen, was pure bliss.
Wining & Dining
The Hotel offers three onsite dining options: Stefan’s Restaurant, Magnolia Social Dining Lounge, and The Oak Terrace.
During our stay, we also had the opportunity to experience the Winemakers Dinner at Stefan’s Restaurant, which was in collaboration with Peter Falke Wines. It was an intimate affair, with an inspired and imaginative fine dining menu by Chef Stefan Bekker. Each dish was thoughtfully paired with Peter Falke wines.
Magnolia Social Dining Lounge provides a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for locals and guests. The fully stocked bar offers a wide selection of drinks ranging from signature cocktails to an extensive wine list. The small plates are perfect for sharing while enjoying a leisurely evening drink.
Erinvale’s Oak Terrace is the perfect location for enjoying alfresco meals outside under the trees, overlooking the beautiful gardens. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining spaces, allowing you to cosy up next to the fireplace during the colder months or take in the stunning views of the Helderberg mountains in the summertime.
Guests can enjoy Breakfast at the Oak Terrace Restaurant or at Magnolia Social Dining Lounge. The Hotel’s buffet has a wide variety of delicious options to choose from; alternatively, you can order from the Oak Terrace Breakfast Menu.
Wellness
After a day of exploring the Helderberg region, guests can unwind and indulge in soothing therapies at the Lurra Spa, which is situated on the premises.
The Spa boasts four generously sized treatment rooms, including two couples rooms. There is also an indoor relaxation area with a heated pool, as well as an outdoor patio area with a pool and sunbathing loungers. The Lurra Spa offers a variety of rejuvenating treatments, including facials, body treatments such as exfoliations and body wraps, as well as manicures, pedicures, and waxing.
A Hair Boutique is also available onsite, which provides guests and visitors with various salon services, including cutting, colouring, and styling. They also offer wedding styling for both brides and bridesmaids.
Activities
Erinvale Hotel offers a wide range of activities to keep guests entertained. Golf lovers can enjoy the Estate’s iconic 18-hole golf course designed by Gary Player, known for its scenic views and challenging layout.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Hotel offers activities such as hiking and mountain biking. The Hotel’s location also provides guests easy access to explore the beautiful Whale Coast and the famous Garden Route, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

You can enjoy all six tastings for a cost of R655, or choose a half option for R350 and pick your top 3 favourites to savour.
In Closing
Something that really stood out for us during our stay was the exceptional level of attention to detail that the staff demonstrated. From the personalised welcome note to the thoughtful touches in the room, it was clear that they genuinely cared about our wellbeing and making our stay as enjoyable as possible.
I highly recommend Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa to travellers seeking a luxurious and memorable stay in the Heart of the Helderberg. It is also great for locals looking for a variety of dining options. A bonus is that the location is ideal for exploring the greater Cape Winelands area; in fact, three wine estates are within walking distance of the Hotel.
