Kitchen Lighting – Decor Update 2017

Something I am realising rather quickly is that home improvements never really go according to plan! That and the fact that I am a perfectionist and want everything done yesterday, is not a great combination. We have had a few minor hiccups with our bathroom reno but nothing that a glass or two of vino cannot sort out. But more about that next time. One of the decor updates we have managed to complete is a revamp of our Kitchen Lighting.

Getting the lighting right in a room is super important. This is especially true for our kitchen as I require both functional, as well as mood lighting, which is largely due to the space being open plan.

Kitchen Lighting

I am crazy about pendant lights, in all shapes and forms. My original idea was to have one or more glass pendants in the kitchen but I fell in love with the idea of a black and copper fitting. After much searching I found one at Eagle Lighting. The major bonus is that it was not super expensive, which meant that I could splurge on a vintage filament bulb!

The pendant light covers the “mood lighting” aspect of the space but I also needed something more functional, so I decided to go for spot lights. I settled on two sets of spots, which are also black and copper. I was a bit uncertain initially about adding more black to the room but I am really happy with how it turned out. The great thing about spots is that you can angle the light where you need it.

I hope you have enjoyed my Decor Update for this week! Next week I hope to bring you more details on my bathroom renovation, as well as a few DIY projects I have in the pipeline. If you have any questions about the products featured above please leave a comment below or email me.

Happy decorating!
