Coffee connoisseurs will be ecstatic to know that Franschhoek is home to a fantastic new coffee spot! You all know how much I love coffee and a new coffee shop in my favourite Winelands town makes my heart sing. The recently opened Big Dog Cafe in Franschhoek, is part of the Terbodore Coffee Roasters family.
Big Dog Cafe
On our recent “Franschhoek is Open for Winter”, media trip, we popped in to check out this exciting new addition to the Winelands Coffee Culture. As we walked through the front door, the seductive “dark-roast” aromas were enough to convince me that we were in the right place!
The Cafe’s modern interior has a wonderfully spacious feel. A combination of wood, metal, and glass, lean towards a contemporary industrial style decor. Natural light streaming in from the patio doors kept the space bright and inviting.
On The Menu
After exploring the cafe and adjoining shop, we got down to the serious business of drinking incredible coffee. With our coffees, we were served a cute and delicious tasting “dog biscuit.”
As well as fabulous coffee, Big Dog Cafe serves a selection of tasty breakfast and lunch dishes. We enjoyed a sublime Ricotta Hotcake, with beetroot parfait, fresh berries, and a hazelnut crumble. It tasted every bit as incredible as it looked.
Take It Outside
As well as a fantastic interior space, the Cafe spills out onto a veranda overlooking the beautiful garden. The outside area under the trees is certainly going to be a winner in summer. It is especially great if you have little ones in tow.
Big Dog Cafe is a great addition to Franschhoek. I know I will be back soon and highly recommend you pop in for a coffee and something delicious to eat.
The Cafe is open Mondays to Fridays (7 am to 5 pm) and Saturdays (8 am to 4 pm) and closed on Sundays.
