Fashion Friday

It tis the season to be merry and the time of year end functions and Christmas parties galore! Well, with this in mind, I thought for Fashion Friday this week I would explore an alternative to the LBD, not everyone likes to wear a dress and black trousers can be such an elegant alternative.

Team a fitted pair of black or charcoal cigar pants with a sequined vest and a fitted black jacket and you can create a look fit for any occasion. Tuxedo jackets are super trendy at the moment and so versatile. You can wear them as part of a smart evening ensemble or with a pair of jeans and a T during the day for a more casual effect. An alternative to a jacket paired with black trousers, is to wear a bustier or tunic over your trousers, as seen in the image above of Emma Watson. A peplum top would also add a bit of flirty fun to a pair of tailored trousers.

As with all outfits accessories are so important to complete your look, you can keep it simple and opt for a black sequined clutch or go for something a bit more funky in a bright or neon colour. Shoes can also add a bit more piazza to your whole look, there is nothing wrong with a bit of bling or if you want to tone your whole look down nude heels would be perfect too.

To create a similar look you can shop Style36.co.za or Zando on-line for similar jackets and trousers or outlets such as Mango, Country Road or Zara have a wonderful ranges.

Cotton On Super Store Canal Walk

Last week I was invited to attend the opening of Cotton On, Super Store, in canal Walk, Cape Town. As you could probably guess I would never turn down an opportunity to shop and I was rather curious as to what this new store has to offer the Capetonian consumer!

The Australian brand is well-known for effortless style at affordable prices. I must confess I did find the prices quite reasonable, I would have to say probably less than half what you would pay for a similar item at the likes of high-street store like Zara. The store is huge and the staff were helpful and friendly.

The Cotton On Super Store is the second of its kind in SA and it houses all their popular brands: Mens, Ladies, Cotton On Body and Cotton On Kids. Plus a small section of Typo goodies. The opening of the Super Store is perfectly timed, with Christmas on our door step and summer officially here!

Their ladies wear ranges from casual everyday T-shirts, shorts and dresses to something a bit smarter for work or an evening out. I definitely prefer their more casual range, I loved their summery boob-tube dresses and their casual jackets. I really liked the prints on their T’s but I found the fit really odd – a bit too big across the chest area!

Their mens T-shirts are great and really reasonably priced. They are made from beautifully soft cotton, with trendy prints and awesome colours for summer. I bought MR two and he absolutely loves them 🙂

The swim wear range was rather popular with all the shoppers there, I must admit I am not ready to start the swim wear search but when I am I will definitely head back to Cotton On to have a look. I also loved their Body range, which features really pretty underwear and gorgeous sleep wear.

Cotton On Kids is very cute and they have super trendy goodies for the little-ones, the only negative is that the kids range only caters up to the age of 7 so if you have older sprouts you are out of luck!

I would definitely recommend a visit to the Cotton On Super Store but I would advise you make it soon before the seasons mayhem really starts. Thanks to Cotton On for the preview and our goodie bag 🙂

PS. I will share my purchase from Cotton On in a separate post!

Cotton On Super Store Canal Walk is located on the Lower Level Shop 85LL, Contact Tel:(021) 552 0726, Opening Times are 9am to 9pm.

Fashion Friday

Neon and bright colours are super trendy at the moment. You can wear accessories to give an outfit a punch of colour or go all out and wear the bold trend from head to toe, depending on how brave you are! This trend is definitely reminiscent of the 80’s and 90’s, all you need to do is picture the Wham hit Wake Me Up (yes I am probably showing my age!).

Here are a few ways that I have worn the trend, as I mentioned you can accessorise with colour – fun neon jewellery, a bright clutch or bright bold make-up and nail polish if you are not keen to go all out.

The Black & White Dress above is from Woolworths and the Chevron Stripped Grey and Neon Yellow is from YDE. All the bangles are from the new Cotton On store in Canal Walk and the chunky ring is from Accessorize.

Have a Fashionably Bright Friday!

Fashion Friday

It is all about shoes again this week! These are the beauties I bought with my Europa Art voucher, which I was lucky enough to win at the Summer in the City party I attended last month! As I mentioned previously I love shoes but will not spend huge amounts of money on fashionable footwear, I will however splash out on classic styles, like this pair. You can never go wrong with the basics and every fashionista needs at least one pair or black and nude heels in her wardrobe.

These heels by Preview are so versatile for summer and a night out on the town. They are perfect with a dark pair of jeans and super sexy, when paired with a flirty summer dress. Last night I paired my Preview heels with a pretty black floral dress and bright fuschia nail polish (Jam ñ Jelly by Essie).

Have a Super Fashionable Friday!

Fashion Friday

I love this look! I have to find a blouse like this, it is so pretty and romantic. My Fashion Friday look of the week, is paired down with neutral tones and a soft feminine edge. The vintage lace is gorgeous and the neckline so elegant.

Pairing a rather flouncy lace blouse with neutral jeans makes for a perfectly modern-chic look and the beautiful leather clutch works so well with the rest of the outfit. The gold accessories are bang on trend, I love the over-sized gold watch – this is something I still need to add to my accessory collection. Over-sized or toy watches are a big trend at the moment and a need to have accessory, I particularly like fairly chunky jewellery, so I am dying to try this look out!

Have a happy Fashionable Friday!

To find similar items to create this look, try outlets like YDE and Zara.
