The Constantia Gift Fair 2012

As I mentioned in a previous post, it is approaching the silly season, we all begin to make our Christmas lists and end-of-year gifts need to be sourced. Well I cannot think of a better Christmas shopping experience, away from the busy malls and general hustle and bustle, than The Constantia Gift Fair.

The Constantia Gift Fair is held at SARDA, in Constantia, a truly beautiful location, with amazing views of the breathtaking Constantia Valley. The Constantia Gift Fair 2012, will be held from the 7-11th November. There will also be a The Gift Fair taking place in Durbanville, at the end of November.

The Constantia Gift Fair is not only a fair, it is a lifestyle event full of inspirational ideas and hand-picked innovative products – a celebration of gifts with a difference. There will be fabulous home and garden accessories, stunning fashion items from local fashion brands, and gorgeous must-have gifts on offer.

After you have finished your shopping or if you are merely in need of extra energy to carry on shopping 😉 head on over to the deli area. The deli section is an extravaganza of delicious and exotic food-gifts. The famous Tina Bester, “Queen of Tarts” will also be at The Fair, wowing patron with her baking prowess. There will definitely be something for everyone from gorgeous sushi, flat-breads  burgers to decadent cheeses and breads, so come and sample the amazing food on offer – wash it all down with a craft beer or superb Constantia Valley wines. Even the kiddies will be catered for. You can finish of your meal with amazing artisanal Ice Cream and perfectly brewed coffee. It is all making my mouth water already!

The Fair promises a magical atmosphere, with late-night shopping on Friday evening until 8pm, live music for the adults and entertainment for the kiddies as well. Kiddies activities will include art options, as well as physical fun to keep your little-ones occupied while you shop.

The Constantia Gift Fair will be held from the 7-11th November 2012:

7 & 8th Nov (Wed & Thurs) 9am – 5pm

9th Nov (Fri) 9am – 8pm (live music)

10 & 11 Nov (Sat & Sun) 9am – 5pm

The Durbanville Gift Fair will be taking place from the 29th November until 2nd December 2012. For more information or contact details you can visit The Gift Fair website.

Summer In the City

Summer

Summer in the City

Summer in the City

Last week I attended a blogger event,  “Summer In the City”, hosted by Stiletto J, aka Jeanne Cupido, from Stiletto Adventures. Unfortunately the weather was anything but summery but hey-ho, that did not stop me from donning a pair of super stylish heels and venturing off. The event was held at a rather popular Cape Town spot, called I Love My Laundry, which is a place I have wanted to visit for a while now. It is a laundry with a difference, they serve Dim Sum and coffee and also have weekly fondue evenings – as I said somewhat different and yes they also do laundry! 🙂

Summer in the City

We were all treated to infused Primitiv Vodka shots – my favourite was the Dandelion Infusion – it was super yummy! Gourmet muesli was also on offer, with refreshing mango puree, decadent dates and zingy ginger to wake up your taste buds.

The very pretty underwear on display is from La Ninna Nanna (Which is Italian for “lullaby”) and is available to purchase from I Love My Laundry.

I was pretty much in shoe heaven as there were works of shoe-art on display, courtesy of Europa Art Shoes. There were also amazing prizes on offer from the various sponsors, which included Essie, Incoco, Medi-heel, La Ninna Nanna, and Europa Art – I was lucky enough to win a voucher from the Europa Shoes – a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes!

Summer

After a bit of mingling, we were inspired by three amazing entrepreneurs who came to speak to us about their products. They were Diane from Bisousoleil, Keren from Bellabaci and Shantelle from Medi-heel, all great companies and more importantly Proudly South African! Each person  received a wonderful goodie bag with products from these three companies and yummy chocolate treats from CocoaFair!

All in all it was a great evening, a chance to meet fellow bloggers and put faces to a few Twitter handles. Thanks Jeanne for organising it and I Love My Laundry for hosting us!

Lush Cape Town Media Launch

Last week I attended the media launch for Lush South Africa’s store in the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. What a super afternoon, spent being pamper by all the luscious goodies on offer at their flagship store in South Africa. The wonderful fruity aromas heightened all my senses – from fun Bath Ballistics to Bubble Bars and Solid Shampoo Bars they have it all. The amazingly enthusiastic Lush staff happily guided our experience explaining all the various products in great detail.

Fresh Soaps are beautifully displayed in a Deli-style selection, the choices are quite over whelming but there is definitely something for everyone – my favourite is “Honey I Washed the Kids”. The Soaps are made from predominately natural ingredients which makes them very mild and gentle on the skin and they smell awesome!

We also got to experience the making of the Lush “Fresh Face Masks”, first hand! The masks are made fresh every week and kept fresh and chilled, in store, on a bed on ice. I received a sample of the mask made at the launch which is aptly named “Catastrophe Cosmetic”, to take home and try. This mask is made with fresh Blueberries, soothing Camomile, Irish Moss and calming Calamine – to help calm and cleanse the skin. I tried the mask on Saturday evening and it truly left my skin feeling calm and silky-soft.

I really enjoyed the afternoon at Lush, we were also treated to a wonderfully goodie bag of Lush items to take home with us! I also bought a few additional items that caught my eye, which I will let you know more about once I have tried them. The one I am most keen to try is a Massage Bar called “Shimmy Shimmy”, which in the shape of a heart with sparkles in it!

A big thank you to the Lush SA team for a great afternoon and if you have not visited the store yet then you must definitely get there soon, there are so many amazing products on offer! The Lush store is located on the V&A Waterfront on the ground floor opposite the iStore. If you would like to be kept up-to-date with all the Lush happening you can follow them on FaceBook & Twitter.
