Essence I Love Trends The Nudes { Mani-Monday }

Essence-I-Love-Trends-The-Nude

Essence I Love Trends The Nudes

I have had fun, trying out a few of the new nail polish shades, from the Essence I Love Trends The Nudes Collection.

Essence-I-Love-Trends-The-Nude

This weekend I decided to give my nails a bit of a break from all the dark wintry shades I have wearing, which is great to a point but then I begin to feel a bit naked! So the natural choice for nail colour today was nude. I decided to try this pretty shimmery pink, Pure Soul from the Essence I Love Trends Nude Collection.

Essence-I-Love-Trends-The-Nudes

Essence I Love Trends The Nudes, are perfect for that groomed – your nails but better finish. From light beige to soft apricot and rosé shades, to brown tones, there is something in the collection to suit everyone.

The polish applies well and two coats gives you a great coverage, you could opt for one if you wanted a slightly more natural finish. I used the Essence The Gel Base and The Gel Top Coat. The Top Coat gives you a great gel finish without the need for an LED or UV lamp.

I have only being wearing the polish for just over a day, so I cannot testify to the long-lasting formula but at R34.95, you cannot really go wrong! There are eight colours available in the Essence I love Trends The Nudes Collection.

RRP: Essence I love Trends The Nudes Collection Pure Soul R34.95, Essence The Gel Base or Top Coat R47.95.

Pantene Pro V Aqua Light

Pantene Pro V Aqua light

 Pantene Pro V #Shinestrong
Pantene-Pro-V-Aqua-Light

At the beginning of May I was invited to be part of an open trial, for the newly formulated Pantene Pro V range. I was sent the Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo and Conditioner, to use for one month and give my feedback, to you my readers, as well as Pantene.

Firstly a bit of background info:

My Hair ~

I have extremely fine hair, which not only has the tendency to be fly-away but also becomes oily very quickly. I am quite fussy about which products I use on my hair and usually buy salon brands but that said I am always willing to try something different.

Creating volume in my otherwise limp hair, is important but I cannot use anything which weighs my hair down.

The advice I was given a few years ago was not to use too many products on my hair. So I stick to a shampoo and conditioner, as well as a product to protect it from heat styling. I tend to not use any styling products such as mousse or gel, as I find this weighs my hair down.

Hair Facts ~

Did you know that washing your hair day after day under the shower, with normal tap water can cause damage to your hair? The minerals found in tap water, that are good for your body, do have a negative effect on your hair over time.

Hair Care Expert and Trichologist, Dr. John Gray explains that levels of copper ions and other minerals are found naturally in all sources of water. These erode the hair’s vital protein layer via oxidation damage that eventually leads to ‘holes in hair’, a condition termed “Protein-Porosis”. ‘This causes hair strands to become brittle, and more prone to breakage,’ explains Dr. Gray.

Pantene’s New Revolutionary Formula ~

Pantene Pro V

After 10 years of research and development, science and beauty have come together in Pantene’s new revolutionary formula. It is set to be your greatest beauty asset, and is the world’s first clinically proven shampoo with damage blockers.

The new Pantene Pro-V formula allows you to have it all – wash after wash. This is all thanks to anti-oxidant ‘Damage Blockers’ that actively target, capture and neutralize the minerals found in tap water. It also provides intense moisturisation and is the first of its kind in a world-wide breakthrough, to repair hair at a molecular level.

Allow this Pro-V formula to work for you by preventing damage caused by daily washing. Most of us do not have the budget to emulate our favourite movie stars’ glossy locks by washing hair in BOTTLED water – With Pantene’s new revolutionary formula you can have it all and achieve the same great result.

The New Pantene Pro-V Promise ~

Pantene-Shine-Strong

With continued use of the shampoo, damage-causing mineral impurities are neutralized and the hair’s condition will improve over time.

This technology now preserves hair proteins which are the building blocks of hair health, strengthening the hair fibre from the inside out for healthier hair,” Dr. Gray goes on to explain.

Consumers can also look forward to an entire product upgrade, which will include the newest Pantene Pro-V formula. The brand has undergone a complete make-over, with new- look packaging, communication, as well as a world first solution to water damage.

Pantene’s promise to you is a new damage blocker formula, which will work for you, day after day, wash after wash!

Prepare to #Shinestrong

The Product:

Pantene Aqua Light ~

Pantene Pro V Aqualight

Fine hair receives a boost with Pantene Aqua Light. The lightweight formula microfortifiers – cleans, targets and helps to reinforce the hair structure along each strand, for fuller, healthy looking hair. Among the many benefits, the unique Pantene Aqua Light formula deeply nourishes and protects against styling damage.

The Verdict:

My Thoughts ~

I have been using the Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo and Conditioner, exclusively, for two weeks now. { I received them on the 7th May.} I wash my hair everyday, so the last thing I want is to dry my hair out, which was my initial concern with using the Aqua Light range. I have however been suitably impressed, with both the condition and manageability of my hair, since starting the trial!

My hair has been easy to style and has a definite bounce and shine to it. I still have two weeks of the trial left and I do like to use products for at least a month before I make my final decision, as to whether it stays or goes.

If you have fine hair like me, I would definitely recommend you give the Pantene Aqua Light range a try. There is also a Light Dual Phase Nourishing Spray available, which fortifies fine hair and helps to protect hair against damage. I am definitely going to give the spray a try as well.

In my next post I will take a photo of my hair to share with you, so that you can draw your own conclusions.

So in closing you definitely cannot lose with these products, especially because the 250ml Aqua Light shampoo and conditioner are under R50!

Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo R42.99 (250ml), Pantene Aqua Light Conditioner R42.99 (200ml), Pantene Aqua Light Dual Phase Nourishing Spray RRP R66.99

Disclosure: These products were supplied to me by Pantene, as part of an open trial but all views and opinions are my own.

Wedding Manicure Ideas { Mani-Monday}

Wedding Manicure Ideas

Wedding Manicure Ideas Wedding Manicure Ideas

When I got married {all those years ago}, the only real option for a Wedding Manicure was a classic French Manicure. With the introduction of nail art, a Wedding Manicure has become far more exciting.

Wedding Manicure

A classic french manicure is still gorgeous but I love that there are now other fabulous Wedding Manicure alternatives!

I decided to create a Wedding Manicure look, using Worth The Wait from the Essie Bridal Collection, available in September 2015 and Tuck In My Tux, from the Winter Collection, available July 2015.

Wedding-Manicure10

Worth The Wait is a light coral kissed pink. To achieve this look you can use any similar light pink shade, such as Adore-a-ball or Sugar Daddy. Apply two coats of this shade as a base. Once this has dried, apply Tuck In My Tux or a white polish such as Essie Marshmallow, with a dotting tool near the end of your nail. Once the dots have dried, apply a top coat – Essie Good to Go is my favourite and you are “good to go”!

Wedding Manicure Ideas

I will be creating a few more Wedding Manicure looks over the next few weeks, so keep a look out for those.

What do you think of this look? What type of Wedding Manicure did you have or are you thinking of having? Please leave a comment below.

Essie Nail Polish is available at selected Dis-Chem, Clicks and Foschini Stores, as well as selected Beauty Salons. RRP 125.

Follow Essie on Facebook to keep up to date with new collections and product launches.

Maybelline Celebrate 100 Years & Win!

Maybelline-Celebrate 100-Years

Maybelline Celebrate 100 Years

For the past 100 years Maybelline have helped inspire women everywhere, to define and enhance their natural beauty. We all know the famous tagline, which has become synonymous with beauty worldwide…

Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline.

Maybelline Celebrate 100 YearsThe Maybelline journey began in 1915, when Tom Lyle Williams noticed his older sister Mabel applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look. He adapted this formulation with a chemistry set and produced a product sold locally called lash-in-brow-line, bringing about the birth of the first Mascara! Williams renamed his eye beautifier Maybelline, in honor of his sister Mabel, who gave him the idea.

Maybelline Celebrate 100 Years

To this day Maybelline has been inspired by confident, accomplished women, to create scientifically-advanced formulas, revolutionary textures and up-to-the-minute, trendsetting make-up shades.

Williams renamed his eye beautifier Maybelline, in honor of his sister Mabel, who gave him the idea.

Some of my first makeup products {Tinkerbell does not count} were from Maybelline. I know for sure my first Mascara was from Maybelline. One of the first Beauty Pick posts I did featured Maybelline products. It is a brand I love and use everyday!

Mangwanani Spa Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel

Mangwanani-Spa Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel

Mangwanani Spa

Mangwanani-Spa Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel

Last week I popped in at the new Mangwanani Spa, at the Southern Sun The Cullinan hotel, to enjoy a hot stone massage.

The Hotel ~

The Southern Sun The Cullinan, is one of my favourite urban hotels, is a truly grandiose space, the epitome of luxury! The SS The Cullinan is part of the award-winning, Tsogo Sun, hotel group – well known for world-class luxury. It is situated in the heart of the Cape Town CBD, perfectly located and within walking distance of the popular V&A Waterfront.

The Mangwanani Spa

The Spa ~

The Mangwanani Spa is the perfect addition to the hotel. Guests now have the opportunity and convenience, of indulging in a range of therapeutic African wellness experiences. All without having to leave the hotel.

Mangwanani-Spa Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel

The Mangwanani Spa massage treatments, are infused with traditional African healing rituals and contemporary wellness therapies that nurture body, mind and spirit.

Their new signature treatment is the Korean Scrub with African Rituals. This vigorous and rejuvenating full-body exfoliation, combines modern knowledge with ancient wisdom, to cleanse your body of dead and aging skin cells. Using an original Korean technique and African traditions. The treatment starts with a twenty minute soak in the warm glass spa baths – leaving your body feeling young, refreshed and revived.

Mangwanani-Spa Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel

The Mangwanani Spa’s luxurious and tranquil interiors are the perfect setting to unwind and be pampered. The chandeliers and mirrors in the spa are truly magnificent!

The minute you walk up the stairs to the spa, you are greeted with the heady aroma of glorious citrusy scents. A fragrance quite similar to one I experienced in a hotel, we stayed at in Mauritius!

Mangwanani-Spa

The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The treatment I enjoyed was a, much needed, Full Body Hot Stone Massage or an “Izimanga”. I did not realise that I had that much tension in my body!

Mangwanani-Spa

Massages, manicures and pedicures can also be enjoyed around the pool, reclining on a lounger and sipping on herbal tea or a glass of bubbly. Weather permitting naturally! Hotel guests can also book treatments in the privacy of their rooms. For a full treatment list click here.
