Beauty Pick of the week

My beauty pick of the week features my latest summer Essie Nail Polish, Pink Diamonds. A very pretty sparkly pink shade, in keeping with my pink theme for Breast Cancer Awareness! The colour is a very girly-girl pink, reminiscent of cotton candy and although the pearly frosted effect, is not always my favourite I simply love the gorgeous pinkness of it all!

Essie is available from DisChem and all major pharmacies and retails for approximately R99.

Beauty Pick of the Week

My beauty pick of the week this week is a new shade of nail polish I am trying out for spring. It is from the Mavala range, no. 98, called Marrakech. It is a beautifully rich, deep coral shade and goes perfectly with the new coral blouse, which I bought last week from Zara. I think this shade will be wonderful for spring/summer with all the beautiful floral prints that are in-store at the moment, as well as liven-up a crisp white outfit.

I love the dinky size of the Mavala nail polish pots, they are perfect for packing in your overnight bag when travelling and in your make-up bag for nail-emergencies on the run. The only negative is that the polish did start to chip at the ends of my nails after the first day but nothing a bit of top coat can’t fix!

To keep up to date with new shades and promotions you can follow Mavala on Facebook.

Recommended retail price R59.95 available at Dis-Chem and Clicks stores.

Caviar Manicure

Just when you think you have seen it all, along comes another trend to completely surprise you and challenge your ideas of conventional beauty. I know that I am certainly not ahead of the curve with this one but I have been admiring this new trend from the side-lines, to see if it holds any water! I must now confess that I am intrigued! What exactly is a Caviar Manicure? Well essentially this concept developed by Ciaté requires an application of  caviar-like pearls, over a base coat of nail polish, to create a rather wow 3 dimensional  effect.

The caviar manicure is currently available in three colour ways: Rainbow, Black Pearls and Mother of Pearl.

The inspiration behind the Caviar Manicure™ came about when Charlotte, Ciaté’s Creative Director, was looking to create 3-dimensional nails for a front cover magazine shoot and wanted to develop something feminine, indulgent yet delicately extravagant.

I thought I would include Ciaté’s  instructional video on how to apply the manicure:

The caviar manicure is definitely a bit different, statement nails if you like! So what are your thoughts would this be a trend you would follow, something you would try?
