Babor ReVersive { Currently Testing }

Babor-Reversive-Anti-aging Cream

Babor Reversive

I am back from the UK, a whirlwind trip, to see friends and family but most importantly, to meet my new baby nephew, for the first time! Then a bit of a family break up the West Coast, for Easter but also trying to squeeze  in some work, as I have such a back-log of new products to share with you!

Babor-ReVersive

One of the products I am most looking forward to trying and reviewing is the new Barbor ReVersive Anti-Aging Cream! There are definitely moments when I would love to be 20 again but then what about all the amazing experiences, which make your life more beautiful! It is just a pity that these life experiences sometimes leave their traces on our skin. Over the course of time, the skin’s natural defense mechanisms are weakened and the process of cell renewal slows down. However, the good news for skin is that BABOR ReVersive can now turn back time a little bit.

Babor-Reversive-Anti-aging Cream

I have just started using the Babor Reversive Anti-aging Cream, so I cant really give you too many thoughts on the product yet but thought I would share a bit more about this new range with you:

BABOR ReVersive – Time reverse skin care with the revolutionary RE-YOUTH COMPLEX

The RE-YOUTH COMPLEX
BABOR’s Research and Development Center has created an exclusive precision formula exclusively for ReVersive. It contains four high-performance active ingredients that work together in perfect synergy. In order to create ReVersive, BABOR relied on award-winning medical research, the protective effect of plant-based stem cells and the power of active marine ingredients – with one common goal in mind: to reactivate and maintain the beauty of each individual woman.

Telovitin: keeps cells younger for longer
Telovitin, an active ingredient based on Nobel Prize-winning research, combats skin aging at its source: cell activity. It protects the telomeres (the ends of the chromosomes) and thus extends the life cycle of the skin cells.

Agicyl: activates defenses against skin aging
This multifunctional active ingredient, which is extracted from the stem cells of the Alpine plant Globularia cordifolia prevents glycation of the collagen fibers so that the skin retains its elasticity. It also stimulates the longevity gene SIRT-1, enabling it to reach peak performance, and boosts the skin’s detoxification systems. Thus, it neutralizes free radicals and environmental aggressors.

Lumicol: creates luminosity and radiance
When freckles cease to look cute, but become pigment marks, protein deposits in the skin tissue are to blame. The active radiance-boosting ingredient Lumicol, which is extracted from microalgae, can activate a protein that destroys these marks. This ensures an even-looking complexion and restores radiance to the skin.

Epocyl: for an instantly visible smoothing effect
This active marine ingredient, which is obtained from plankton, forms a film on the surface of the skin, and within 15 minutes visibly fills in any wrinkles and unevenness.

These four components create the RE-YOUTHing effect. Although ReVersive can’t turn back time, it can reverse its visible traces. Essences of the unique BABOR rose give the products their incomparable fragrance.

The products:
ReVersive anti-aging dual serum (set of 4) 4 x 8.7 ml, R3650
Thanks to the innovative booster technology, the serum is freshly activated for a one-week application. Once it is activated, the two phases of the serum blend together to form a micro-emulsion, which penetrates the skin noticeably deeper and faster. This is what gives the RE-YOUTH COMPLEX in this serum its highly intensive action. The set contains four little bottles of ReVersive anti-aging dual serum, each of which is designed for seven days’ use. For best results, it should be applied over a four-week period, in harmony with the skin’s natural renewal cycle.

Babor-Reversive-Anti-aging Cream

ReVersive anti-aging cream 50 ml, R2560
ReVersive anti-aging cream rich 50 ml, R2783
Two creams to choose from: Thanks to the RE-YOUTH COMPLEX, the light 24-hour cream has a comprehensive anti-aging, smoothing effect and creates a youthful glow, making it an ideal day cream. The slightly richer, soft-textured cream is ideal for dry skin, and can also be used as night cream to pamper the skin.

ReVersive anti-aging eye cream 15 ml, R1319
This ophthalmologist-tested eye cream, which was specially designed for the sensitive eye area, absorbs quickly and firms delicate skin extremely gently. In addition, extracts of rhodiola rosea, sugar beet and yeast stimulate lymph flow, and thus reduce dark rings under the eyes. For an eye pack, apply a generous amount of the cream twice weekly.

Dermalogica BioSurface Peel { Beauty }

Dermalogica BioSurface Peel

Last year saw the launch of the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel. The BioSurface™ Peel, is Dermalogica’s first-ever chemical peel, exclusively formulated for use in skin care centres and spas around the world.

Dermalogica-BioSurface-Peel

At the beginning of this year I was invited to participate in a trial, at the V&A Waterfront Concept Store, which combined the use of the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel, with the Dermalogica Powerbright TRx Treatment Kit. As you know I have hyperpigmentation and the trial was aimed at reducing the appearance of dark spots, as well as protecting the skin against further damage.

Some of you may have heard about the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel already but many people are really nervous about chemical peels, so I thought I would share a bit of info on the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel. I will share my review on the Powerbright products and more information on the trial, in a seperate post.

Dermalogica-BioSurface-Peel

Dermalogica BioSurface Peel ~

This revolutionary four-step exfoliant system is the first range of products to be introduced within Professional Expert Strength, a new line of professional products only available to licensed skin care therapists. Dermalogica BioSurface Peel addresses a diverse array of conditions that include reducing skin roughness and the appearance of fine lines as well as helping to treat hyperpigmentation, pseudofolliculitis (razor bumps), and acneic inflammation. This new procedure offers the many benefits of traditional chemical peels, but with little to no post-peel redness or downtime—a huge advantage for consumers.

Today’s woman is time-deprived, but still cares greatly about her skin health and wants results. Since Dermalogica launched more than 25 years ago, its mission has always been to set the industry standard and provide its tribe of professional skin care therapists with the most cutting edge products and treatments so they are best equipped to meet the demands of today’s consumers. The new BioSurface Peel will provide consumers with the results they desire without any recovery downtime. ~ Diana Howard, VP of Research and Development and Global Education for Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute.

Application ~

The application process for BioSurface Peel consists of an initial Prep Step followed by layers of Enzyme and Acid Active peel solutions, which are neutralised in the fourth and final neutraliser step.  Because of the intensity of the powerful active ingredients, special training and certification are required to use BioSurface™ Peel.

Active ingredients include Salicylic Acid used in both the Prep Solution (Step 1) and Acid Active(+) (Step 3). As a keratolytic agent, Salicylic Acid causes weakening of cell connections allowing for sloughing of skin cells. Combined with a low pH, keratin bonds are loosened, creating a burst of exfoliation, which addresses signs of ageing and hyperpigmentation.

The Enzyme Active(-) (Step 2) delivers an 83% total enzyme solution utilising Pumpkin Fruit enzymes with Papain, Protease and Aminopeptidase enzymes. In addition, Moth Bean Extract offers a gentle, botanical alternative to synthetic retinoids, while offering similar effects.

In addition to Salicylic Acid, the Acid Active(+) phase (Step 3) also delivers Lactic Acid, bran-derived Phytic Acid, and Sugar Cane Extract. This step brightens areas of hyperpigmentation, helps removes impaction plugs in follicles especially in sebaceous glands, and aids in cell turnover. The De.celerator (Step 4) halts the exfoliation process with a blend of Sodium Bicarbonate, Yeast Extract and soothing Cucumber Fruit, Japanese Green Tea, Oat Leaf and Saponaria Leaf Extracts. This final phase slows the activity of the acids and normalises the epidermis while calming and comforting skin and initiating the process of skin repair.

Treatments ~

To ensure maximum results, the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel is recommended as a series of three to six treatments.

Series of Treatments
Skin Concern When to Perform Subsequent Treatments
Ageing/Pigmentation 1-2 weeks apart
Sensitive Skin 3-4 weeks apart
Acne/Congestion 1-2 weeks apart
Normal/Maintenance 4+ weeks apart

Pre Peel Care ~

It is extremely important to prep your skin before the professional BioSurface Peel is performed. It is recommended that the following pre peel care, based on your needs and skin concerns, are followed:

Home Care
Pre BioSurface™ Peel
Focus Products
Exfoliation Daily Resurfacer, Daily Microfoliant®, Gentle Cream Exfoliant & Skin Renewal Booster
Acne Clearing Skin Wash, Clearing Mattifier, Oil Control Lotion & Oil Free Matte SPF30
Ageing Skin  Resurfacing Cleanser, MultiVitamin Thermafoliant, MultiVitamin Power Serum, Overnight Repair Serum & Age Reversal Eye Complex
Pigmentation Tri-Active Cleanse, C-12 Concentrate, Pure Light SPF30, Pure Night
Sensitivity Barrier Repair, UltraCalming™ Serum Concentrate

Post Peel Home Care ~

Once the peel has been performed, for optimal skin health results, you should include post peel products in your skin care routine. It is imperative that you incorporate an SPF as part of your daily routine.

Home Care
Post BioSurface™ Peel
Focus Products
Dryness Intensive Moisture Balance
Sensitivity Barrier Repair and UltraCalming™ Cleanser
Dead skin cells MultiVitamin Thermafoliant
Sun protection Super Sensitive Shield SPF30 or Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF30

Benefits ~

Dermalogica believes a chemical peel should work with the skin, not against it. The new Professional Expert Strength BioSurface™ Peel’s uniquely multi-phase approach powerfully targets fine lines, hyperpigmentation and acne to take skin health to a whole new depth.

One of the main pro’s of the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel, is the lack of downtime experienced. You may experience a bit of tingling and tenderness during the treatment but I felt very little, if any discomfort and only the slightest redness, directly after the peel.

The cost of the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel is R690 per treatment. The BioSurface Peel is available at Dermalogica Concept Stores, as well as selected Salons and Spas, please visit the Dermalogica Website for more info.

{Review} Dermaceutic Milk Peel at Chelsea Aesthetic Centre

Dermaceutic-milk-peel

A few days ago I reviewed Regen Ceutic, a skin recovery cream, from the Dermaceutic Homecare range. Dermarceutic is a range of cosmeceuticals created by Dermatologists and surgeons specialising in facial rejuvenation. The Dermaceutic range offers technologically advanced skin care products for their patients, to accompany general medical and cosmetic procedures. The range helps to prepare skin, optimize and maintain the results of all medical and cosmetic procedures.Dermaceutic-milk-peel

As well as their homecare range, Dermaceutic have a deep knowledge of the most efficient chemical peel agents and have also developed a range of professional peels. A chemical peel is essentially an accelerated form of exfoliation, induced by a chemical agent. It activates different types of modifications in the skin, depending on the depth of the peel.

Along with the Dermaceutic products, which I was given to review, I was invited to experience a Dermaceutic Milk Peel. I only started doing peels on my skin quite recently and I am still nervous when I go for one, as I have heard so many horror stories! You are, after all putting chemicals on your delicate skin.

Chelsea Aesthetic CentreOn Monday I visited the stunning Chelsea Aesthetic Centre, in Wynberg to enjoy my treatment. I was placed in the very capable hands, of the owner of Chelsea Aesthetic Centre, Melanie. After assessing my skin and discussing my skin care needs Melanie began my treatment. Before applying the Milk Peel Melanie performed a series of treatments to prepare my skin for the peel and make it more receptive.

Chelsea Aesthetic Centre

Once Melanie had applied the peel, I did experience a mild stinging sensation but nothing unbearable. After about 10 minutes a neutraliser was applied to my skin, which I was warned would make the stinging sensation worse but again it was not unbearable. As Melanie explained the Milk Peel, is a smart peel, it targets areas of your skin, which require attention, such as fine lines, dull complexion and loss of tone or in my case pigmentation and helps to restores a radiant complexion.

After the peel has been removed, Melanie performed a few extra specialised treatments to help target my pigmentation, before she applied a serum and cream, to my skin, to help reduce the sensitivity caused by the treatments.

Initially my skin was quite red and sensitive in the areas which Melanie had targeted, specifically the areas of pigmentation but after two days this subsided. I have experienced a bit of dry peeling skin but overall my skin looks and feels amazing, which is one of the huge bonuses of the Milk Peel – there is very little down time! Melanie did say that it would take at least a week for my skin to return to normal.

I am continuing to use the Regen Ceutic as post treatment care, as well as the most amazing foundation by Oxygenetix, which I will tell you about in another article.

I would just like to say thank you to both Dermaceutic and Chelsea Aesthetic Centre for giving me the opportunity to experience the Milk Peel, it is definitely something I will be doing again! RRP Dermaceutic Milk Peel at Chelsea Aesthetic Centre R550.

{Review} Regen Ceutic by Dermaceutic

Regen Ceutic by Dermaceutic

As you may already know I have been waging a war on pigmentation over the past few years! It is a battle which I feel I have been less than successful at winning but along this journey, I have discovered a handful of amazing skin care products! One of these products which I recently started using is Regen Ceutic by Dermaceutic.

Regen Ceutic by Dermaceutic

Dermaceutic is a range of cosmeceuticals created by Dermatologists and surgeons specialising in facial rejuvenation. The Dermaceutic range offers technologically advanced skin care products for their patients, to accompany general medical and cosmetic procedures. The range helps to prepare skin, optimize and maintain the results of all medical and cosmetic procedures.

Apart from my issues with pigmentation, I have extremely sensitive skin, so I cannot just slap on any old cream. Although it is important to me to try and reverse the pigmentation, I am also determined to maintain good skin tone and protect my skin against the elements. I am always hesitant when trying new skin care and will always do a bit of research on the product before I start using it.

Regen-Ceutic by Dermaceutic SA

Regen Ceutic, which I have been using is part of the Dermaceutic Homecare Range. It is a Skin Recovery Cream, which accelerates epidermal restoration post aesthetic treatments: nourishes and firms the skin. Regen Ceutic contains, 3% Peptides Complex ~ a synergy of 2 of the most efficient peptides, which stimulates collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin production to induce an anti-wrinkle effect from within, 3% Hyaluronic Acid ~ Moisturizes skin and improves firmness, Stabilized vitamin C & E ~ a combination of vitamins which combats and limits the signs of photo-aging and has an anti-inflammatory action, as well as Shea butter ~ which hydrates and nourishes the skin. It is recommended for sensitive, dehydrated and aging skin.

The Dermaceutic homecare range focuses on the three essential areas of skin rejuvenation: stimulation, protection and repair. It was created to address most skin types’ needs- from pigmentation, to fine lines, to acne. The products are packaged in airless bottles to ensure optimum hygiene, ease of use and a minimal concentration of preservatives.

I have found Regen Ceutic amazing! The formulation although light-weight, once applied, instantly hydrates my skin, while calming any redness or sensitivity. This is definitely a product I will continue using as a part of my everyday skin care routine! I also think as far as more high-end skin care products go, the RRP of R 550.00 for R30ml, it is quite affordable.

For details on these and other products please visit the Dermaceutic SA Website.
