As I have mentioned previously nothing gives me greater pleasure than discovering amazing home-grown talent! Meeting these creative people who have taken their skills and talent and put them into practice, doing what they truly love, is truly inspiring!

I am a true sock lover and very fussy when it comes to buying socks, my precious tootsies deserve only the best! Soft and comfy and more importantly socks that do not cut off the circulation in your lower leg, are attributes that are very important to me, when selecting a pair of socks. I love the funky designs and fresh colours – taking the ordinary sock to a whole new level. Below are a few of my favourites – truth be told my favourite-favourite is the pair above from their mens range, I will have to buy them for Mr and subtly move them to my sock draw!

So who are these sock loving designers?

Alison and Chelsey are two best friends whose dreams and adventures have always been cushioned by a pretty pair of socks. At age eight and nine, their friendship bloomed in dance class, wearing little, lacy, ribboned toe-socks. By age thirteen, they were stealing Ali’s older sister’s socks to slide around muddy paddocks with horses. Today, in their early twenties, they have decided to take their love affair with socks more seriously, with all the joy and frivolity of those two silly little girls.

Fashion Friday

Fashion Friday is all about glitz, glamour and the red carpet! Featuring my favourite Red Carpet look from this years SAG Awards and the gorgeous Naomi Watts! Looking absolutely radiant in a ornately beaded Marchesa gown, diamond Fabergé earrings and glittery box clutch, Naomi typifies old-world Hollywood glamour. She adds just a few punches of colour to her ice-white look, with a bright ruby lip, an emerald-green mani and topped off with a chunky emerald ring, also by Fabergé. Not to forget her beautifully styled golden locks! STUNNING!

Window Shopper by All4Women

All4Women.co.za, is one of the fastest growing online women’s magazine in South Africa, they offer their readers a wide range of articles on fashion, beauty, weight loss, health, decor and more, with over 400 articles being added each month.

All4Women recently launched a brilliant new feature on their website called Window Shopper. Window Shopper allows you to view and share images of clothing items available in South Africa’s leading women’s retail stores, without leaving the comfort of your chair! You can filter your search, either by store(s) and/or type(s) of clothing.

Loads of new pictures are added every day, so this way you’ll get to tour the mall without having to leave the comfort of your home or office. It is a one shop “fashion-finder,” which allows you the convenience of visiting one site, instead of having to trawl the mall or online stores to keep up to date, with all the hot new fashion items that have hit the shelves.

As a busy mom, I think this is a fantastic idea, especially if you are looking for something specific! At least you can do your research and legwork before you hit the shops or even better still order an item from a store on-line and have it delivered!

Fashion Friday

Skinny jeans are still a top fashion trend but it is summer in SA and way too hot for jeans! So trade in your jeans for a cheeky pair of shorts. If you have the legs for it high-waisted shorts are super trendy, especially pretty lace ones but do not worry if you feel that these expose too much flesh, then try something in a longer bemuda style. There are styles for everyone!

I am loving this trend which is becoming increasingly popular from the beach to the boardroom, with flirty cut-off denim shorts in gorgeous pastel shades to chic tailored shorts worn with heels and a tailored jacket. As I mentioned there is a style combination for everyone!

To shop this trend in SA try major retailers such as Woolworths, Mr Price and Foschini. If you are looking for more tailored or lace shorts try stores such as Zara and Mango. I have bought quite a few pairs of shorts from Woolworths this season(see image below). They retail for R160 and are wonderfully soft and fit me well, without being to short!

The 2013 Red Carpet did not disappoint with plunging necklines, low-backs and leg revealing side slits being the order of the day! One of favourites was Jessica Alba(yet again) in a gorgeous soft coral Oscar de la Renta gown, as I have said before she looks great in most anything!

Both Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez, who are well known for their ability to shock with body-baring fashion looked amazing! Many of the dresses were more understated and elegant. Although colour is still very popular, there was a big trend of white or off-white gowns, with lots of shimmer and texture.

There were many more amazing gowns but these are my favourites!
