Everyday Makeup Essentials

I know everyone has there own set makeup routine and products which they love but I thought I would share some of my Everyday Makeup Essentials with you.

As some of you may know I have been struggling with pigmentation over the past few years! Unlike most women who get pigmentation during their pregnancies, mine only arrived after I had my kids. I used to be one of the lucky ones, who could get away without wearing any foundation at all! Well those days have passed and like most challenges in life you can either deal with it and accept it or let it ruin your life. So deal with it we must 🙂

After searching for foundations and concealers for a while now and buying so many products which do not work, I eventually enlisted the help of professional makeup artist Kirsten Murphy Rossiter(yes my sister-in-law – lucky me)! She helped me find the best products for my skin type and more importantly the correct colours for my skin-tone.

The most important thing for me is that I don’t want to look like I have too much foundation on, that “caked on” effect, especially for everyday wear. I need medium buildable coverage, which looks as natural as possible! Having combination skin I also need to stay away from products which will leave me looking like an oil-slick by lunch time.

Cinderella’s Secrets

I was recenlty sent a hamper from Cinderella’s Secret to review. Their extensive range of beauty and pamper products are aimed at making each woman feel like the princess she really is!

I thought I would share the range of products I received with you:

Chocolate Face Mask

As you know I love trying out and reviewing face masks, my favourite masks are usually clay based but I am always keen to try something different! This mask smells and looks exactly like chocolate mousse and that is exactly what it feels like on your skin. It does not dry or set on your face, so I would classify this as a purely hydrating mask. It smells lovely and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Love Potion Body Scrub

I have loved using this scrub! I usually use a body scrub once or twice a week when I shower but I really do not like scrubs, which leave your skin feeling sticky after applying them. The Love Potion scrub has a creamy texture and contains a fine exfoliant and it is not too abrasive. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. It has a delicate fragrance, which I really prefer in a scrub and is not at all astringent.

Country Garden Body Butter

I do prefer using a body butter as opposed to a body lotion, especially after shaving my legs, as the thicker texture is way more nourishing for your skin. The Country Garden Butter also has a delicate feminine fragrance and although I loved the creamy texture when applied, I did find that my skin felt a bit sticky as the day wore on. I think this would be a great product to use at night, before bed and after a long soak in the bath!

Country Garden Liquid Bath Milk

I am usually a bubble bath gal but I have really enjoyed using this Liquid Bath Milk! It really softens the bath water and smells heavenly. Definitely one of my favourite products out of the range I tried.

Love Potion Bath Mouse

I must be honest I have only tried this product once. I do not bath that often – I prefer to shower, simply because it’s quicker but I did enjoy the way my skin felt after using it.

Natural Soaps

I also received two natural soaps which also smell great and I love the fact that they are natural! My favourite is the Goats Milk & Honey!

Woolworths Re-launches the WBeauty Skincare Range

Woolworths recently re-launched the WBeauty Skincare Range and I was invited to the official re-launch at the V&A Waterfront store. I had not yet seen the newly released product range and was suitable impressed, especially by the lovely new packaging!

At Woolworths, we’re passionate about innovation, and are always working to offer our customers the latest in beauty technology. When it comes to skincare, we have extended the WBeauty range to offer a range of newly formulated skincare products that leave the skin looking radiant and feeling great. ~ Woolworths

The new beauty range from Woolworths, includes a selection of cleansers and toners to suit all skin types. These can be combined with the new variety of moisturisers, which are suitable for day and night use, as well as eye creams to target age specific skin concerns. The advantage of this wide range of products, is that you can create a bespoke skincare regime, particular to your skin type, choosing products from across the range.

The new range caters to each step of your skincare routine and is suitable for all skin types. There is a comprehensive cleansing range, where you can choose from a daily gel cleanser, a daily cream cleanser, a daily foaming cleanser, an exfoliating cleanser and either eye make up remover liquid or lotion. For toning your skin there is a daily cleansing toner for normal or combination skin and daily cleansing toner for sensitive skin.

When it comes to moisturising your skin Woolworths have created age specific ranges, which can be easily identified by the different coloured packaging. The ranges are “Radiance”, “Ageless” or “Replenish” and are available in day cream, night cream and eye cream.

There are also four new serums available, specially formulated to treat specific skin ailments. The Anti-ageing Serum, Hydrating Serum, Even Tone Serum, and Brightening Serum can be used in conjunction with any of the products in the range.

WBeauty products are developed in accordance with Woolworths Good Beauty Principles. This means that we avoid the use of mineral oils and harsh petrochemical ingredients and choose safe, gentle ingredients instead. Each product has been through a rigorous safety assessment and has not been tested on animals, earning us the approval of Beauty Without Cruelty. ~ Woolworths

We received a fabulous goodie bag, to take home with us, at the launch! It contained a wide range of the new WBeauty products, which was amazing as I have been looking for a new skincare range to use.

I am loving the cleansing range, which both my hubby and I are trying. I received two of the new day creams and have decided to try the “Radiance” range of moisturisers first, as well as the Brightening Serum. I will do a proper review post of the different products, so that you can find out more about the individual products.

Another great addition to their extensive WBeauty range is the introduction of tester-sized products, so that you can try the individual products before you buy the full size item!

Summer Nail Polish Shades

With summer around the corner I thought I would share some of my go-to summer nail polish shades. Two of the colours featured, are from my existing collection, which I bought earlier in the year and the other a new purchase.

Personally I love bright colours for summer especially on my toes, which you may have noticed from previous beauty posts! I do on occasion wear pastels in summer but much prefer bright shades 🙂

The latest addition to my ever-growing nail polish collection is a gorgeous neon plum colour, called DJ Play That Song. I love, love, love how super bright this polish is, personally I prefer it on my toes but it looks equally as good on my hands.

I have paired DJ Play This Song, with a few different clothing items, to give you an idea what you could wear it with. You could match it up with similar plum colours or offset it with gorgeous green and gold. This colour would also work wonderfully with white during the day or look super sexy against black for an evening look.

The reddish pink shade above, Essie Watermelon, is a flirty and fun shade perfect for summer. It is a deliciously refreshing juicy red polish, much like the beautiful, sweet, ripe flesh of watermelon.

I actually bought Watermelon after a mani and pedi at Sorbet, to take along with me on my recent trip to Thailand. It looks amazing against golden-tanned skin and is definitely a shade I will be wearing often this summer!

Last but not least is an old favourite, Tangerine, also by Essie. This zesty orange-red polish is so pretty and yes as you may know, I am slightly obsessed with coral or orangy colours, so this is a firm favourite.

There are many more beautiful summery colours available but these are a few of my favourites and colours I consider to be summer essentials.

Beauty Tip ~ To stop your nails from yellowing, caused by constantly wearing nail polish, I recommend that you use a Protein Base Coat, like the Essie one featured above. It really does stop your nails from yellowing, as well strengthening your nails!
