New Beginnings

As many of you may remember I changed the name of my website in May this year from supermomsa to inspiredlivingsa. I won’t bore you and go into too much detail, as to why I changed the name but it was a necessary step to move forward both in my personal life and my blogging journey!

FB-Logo-lens-flare

Supermomsa was a great learning curve and taught me so much, if it were not for that website, I do not think I would be where I am today.

In an attempt to not loose readers and maintain the supermomsa site for a period of time I implemented a redirect to the new inspiredlivingsa website but I think the time has come, to officially to move on and cut the ties all together! It is a time of New Beginnings!

I just wanted to put the word out there and let everyone know. Especially readers who use Feedburner, who may still have the old supermomsa details, please change to the new details Subscribe to Inspired Living SA by Email.

For PR companies who were in contact with supermomsa, you can contact me via email to discuss any further campaigns.

Inspired Living

InspiredLiving

As you may have realised by now the name of my website has changed! The change to Inspired Living was not an overnight decision but rather one which has been mulled over for months, if not longer! The one thing I have realised in life, is that I need to trust my instincts and that is exactly what I have done 🙂

Change as they say is as good as a holiday but not always the most comfortable thing to do. The motivation for this name change, stems from a need to better reflect exactly what my website represents and what message I am trying to convey, which is how I arrived at the new name Inspired Living! Essentially my website was created to be inspirational and inspire others to do the things they always wanted and dreamed of doing, especially moms!

My passions are many and this has inspired me to create this space on the web to share my passions with you, which will hopefully in turn inspire you to explore your passions. The main thing about blogging or writing is to remain true to what you love and enjoy doing because this will reflect in all that you publish.

InspiredLiving

I chose to use a dandelion flower to represent the new name because this is what I would like to achieve – “sow seeds of inspiration” to readers and help motivate and inspire them to follow their dreams and aspirations. I chose the colour pink for the logo because as you know it is one of my favourite colours and has been a common design thread throughout my blogging history.

The Name: “Inspired Living SA”

The Mission: “To sow seeds of Inspiration”

The Action: “be inspired”

So thank you for being such loyal readers and welcome to my new home on the web! I hope you love the name and logo design as much as I do and value any comments or feedback you may have 🙂

Ford Kuga Review

Ford Kuga

Last week I was given the opportunity of test driving a Ford Kuga, and I thought I would share my Ford Kuga Review with you. We are currently on the hunt for a new family car, so this was a perfect exercise! The Ford Kuga is a family car, with a roomy interior and ample boot space. My overall perceptions were good with a few minor issues that Ford need to iron out long-term. [Read more…]

How To Find Your Passion

After having to spoken to a few, close, friends recently, I realised how difficult it can be, for people in general but especially women to make “life changes” after a certain point in their lives. I think it is particularly difficult, as a mother, to make life altering changes without first having to consider how it will affect your family. This motivated me to write this post, to motivate you on “how to find your passion”!

passion

I think I am definitely more aware of this with 40 looming in the not too distant future but I think it has less to do with age and more to do with the expectations and dreams I have for my life. We all make certain life decisions, early on in our lives and mine was to settle down and have a family. Being a SAHM {stay at home mom} means that there are certain sacrifices you are required to make and usually your career is one of these sacrifices. I know that there are a great many moms who do both but our own personal decision was that I would be a full-time SAHM; fortunately for us we were able to do this. I feel that young children, benefit hugely in the early years of their development, if you are able to be at home with them.

The only dilemma that quite a few moms’ find themselves in, is that once their children are of a school going age, they tend to have more free time on their hands. So this begs the question – “What Now?” and this is especially true if you did not pursue a career path BC {before children} because you could then simply continue on that path. Well I guess this is where my need was born to find “something” that I could do that would be primarily “for me”. This is not as easy as it may sound when you have spent the better part of 10-12 years teaching children to eat, walk and sleep. Which is a completely different focus and although physically and emotionally challenging, it leaves you rather lacking intellectually.

a-life-without-passion

In my search to find my passion and purpose, I was given some very wise advice from my man, to find something that I am passionate about and not if possible chase money as a reward. I do understand that some families require both parents to work but if you can follow your passion before you follow the money all the better.

So now that you have established your need, to find your passion how do you go about deciding what your passion or purpose actually is? Simple really, get out a pen and paper and write down all the things you love to do and the things that you would love to do. Remember these are generally the things that keep you awake at night and you have always dreamt of doing. Then comes the tricky bit, you need to eliminate the probable or possible ideas, from the impossible ideas. It’s not that you cannot achieve whatever you set your mind to but more about the practical application of these ideas. For instance the prospect of becoming a world travelling photo-journalist, although exciting would be near on impossible with kids and hubby in-tow.

For me, a mom of two grade school children, finding my passion resulted in me starting my blog.  I have always loved photography, fashion and cooking, pretty much anything that is a creative outlet and writing and sharing about these things on my blog is greatly fulfilling. The one factor I had not banked on was how much I actually love writing, this came as quite a surprise to me but I guess I am writing about the things I am passionate about! For you it may be as simple as taking a photographic or art course or as big as taking the first steps to getting a degree.

I believe that it is not necessarily about what you decide to do but more about recognising your need to do something and that it is never to late change the direction you are travelling in!

Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion. ~ Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel

Passion and purpose go hand in hand. When you discover your purpose, you will normally find it’s something you’re tremendously passionate about.” ~ Steve Pavlina, Blogger and Author

The Fuji Instax Wide

dsc_0442

My new toy, the The Fuji Instax Wide 210, shoots Polaroid size, high quality, images and prints instantly, it is so much fun! I am really enjoying my photography and this is just another medium to express myself. It is certainly not in the same league as my Nikon Slr but it is not meant to be, it is a point and shoot with instant gratification, it does of course mean that you really need to put some though into your subject matter! I must admit I am still getting the hang of using it but I think I have become quite spolit having digital, which does a great deal of the thinking for you.

057Well I am definitely building up my stock of photographic equipment and next on the list are new lens and filters. I have come across a great photographic shop called Exposure Gallery, they stock a vast array of inspirational photographic products, Lomography cameras and Lensbaby lenses, as well as showcasing original photographic art. Now you know where you will find me on Saturday mornings!
