PetiteBox

Last week I went to the launch of PetiteBox South Africa. PetiteBox is along the same lines as Glossybox (a subscription based beauty box) and has actually been launched by the same ladies who started Glossybox SA. The fundamental difference is that PetiteBox is aimed at moms – moms-to-be or new moms, and is also perfect as a gift for friends and family.

We created PetiteBox to offer a service that supports new parents as well as their babies. We provide you with only the best mom and baby products and latest advice throughout pregnancy and new motherhood. ~ PetiteBox

Watch my  Youtube video review to find out more detail about what is in the PetiteBox.

The world of pregnancy and being a new mom can be somewhat daunting, merely because it is something unknown, never mind knowing what vitamins to take or what products will suit you or your baby. There is just so much to take in and so many decisions to make, as well as so many well-meaning people dishing out unsolicited advice! It can all be overwhelming. This is where PetiteBox comes in, to take the stress and pain out of the decision-making! They provide you with all the goodies you may need at whatever stage you are of your pregnancy or they can tailor your PetiteBox according to your baby’s age, if you are already a mom. It could not be more perfect and it simply takes the hassle out of deciding what products are right for you, as you can try out the samples and test the products in your box and then make informed decisions before you buy them yourself.

A Monthly Subscription PetiteBox

A Monthly Subscription PetiteBox

So how can you order your PetiteBox? Easy, simply register to receive a beautiful monthly box with 3-5 premium mom and baby products. The other option if you are looking for a gift for a friend or family member is to send them one of the gift boxes PetiteBox offer. They also offer a free courier delivery service to your home or office. The subscription box can be bought on a monthly, 3-month or 6-month basis, as well as the various once-off gift options, such as a Baby Shower, Hospital or Pregnancy Gift Box. A monthly subscription will cost you R130.00 per month and a gift box costs R345.00 once off.

My August 2012 rubybox

I am loving my August 2012 rubybox, as it contains two products that I have been wanting to try for a while now and a new fragrance to add to my travel, fragrance collection! We went away this weekend and I found it is so much easier taking the tester size fragrances in my toiletry bag, rather than the full size breakable-glass bottle!!!

Esse Gel Cleanser – this locally produced, organic, deep-cleansing gel cleanser combines the natural oils of peppermint and spearmint, which help improve mirco-circulation, in the skin. It gives your skin a bit of a wake-up call and leaves it feeling well cleansed and refreshed. Esse is a range I have heard so much about and I was super excited to discover it in this months box! It is recommended to use this cleanser on normal, combination skins and oily skin in the morning and the evening but only in the evening on dry skin.

Maybelline Great Lash “lots of lashes” – This iconic mascara is loved by make-up artists and beauty editors the world over but is one of those products that I have always seen at the store and heard so much about, but not actually tried! Well now I have the chance. I am a Maybelline girl anyway so I do not need any convincing, I usually use the Define-A-Lash Mascara but I must stay I am now a convert. As part of Great Lash’s 40th Birthday Maybelline have added the new “Great Little Grabber” brush, which amazingly gets to every lash, giving your lashes awesome definition and a wonderful curl. This is definitely a must for your make-up bag!

Paco Rabanne Lady Million – This fragrance is described as being “sparkling yet sensual”! I love bold fragrances and Lady Million certainly packs a punch, it has distinctly fruity undertones, with one of favourites, neroli oil taking the lead. The wonderful fragrance is further enhanced by the wonderful scent of jasmine, gardenia and the spicy warmth of amber. Can you tell I LOVE it!

rubybox professional Classic Angled Blush Brush – One can never have too many make-up brushes! This brush aims to define your cheekbones to the max. The angled bristles allow you to create a dramatically defined cheek with great precision, giving you a truly sculpted finish.

Happy Woman's Day

You.Are.Amazing.

As. you. are.
Stronger than you know.
More beautiful than you think.
Worthier than you believe.
More loved than you can ever imagine.
Passionate about making a difference.
Fiery when protecting those you love.
Learning. Growing. Not alone.
Warm. Giving. Generous.
Quirky. Sexy. Funny. Smart.
Flawed. Whole. Scared. Brave.
And so, so, so.much.more.

Be Strong. Be Confident. Be You.

I found this poem when I was looking for inspiration for Woman’s Day and I thought it was so appropriate! It express all we are as woman, mothers, wives, girlfriends, friends and sisters.

Super Mom Blog wishes all the amazing woman out there a Happy Woman’s Day!

My Top 4 Tips for Raising Girls

As a mom of two girls, one rapidly approaching her teens and the other puberty, I am often asked how I handle all the drama, that these tender years can bring with them. Well here are a few pearls of wisdom, things that I have learnt along the way – some lessons more painful than others!

  • There comes a point in your parenting journey, especially as a mom of girls and tweens or teens, when you are going to have to say no, to things they would like or would like to do. You may very well have to disappoint your children but part of your job, as a parent, is to protect and guide them! Especially in their teenage years, children need to understand what is appropriate and what is not! That a skirt may be way too short and that their make-up is too heavy, you have to teach them right from wrong. I think this is sometimes harder for the parent than the child because you do not want to come across as the “dragon mom” but at the same time, “rather safe than sorry”. What you have to understand, is that children will try to push boundaries and assert themselves, which at times means standing your ground and not giving in.
  • You are going to have to learn to share – everything! Clothing, makeup, shoes, even your husband – a good Father Daughter relationship is so important! The Barney saying “sharing is caring” comes to mind but there is a limit to everything! I grew up with a younger brother, so I never had to go hunting for my stuff. As a result, I am not used to sharing! This has been a huge learing curve for me. I think the important lesson here is to teach your children about personal space and how to respect yours and maintain theirs – in other words “to stay out of your stuff!”
  • There may be times when your girls make you feel insecure, intimidated and even a tad jealous {I can see a few eyebrows being raised!}. This is not necessarily a bad thing but it will bring you to the realisation that you are indeed human! It can be tough when they fit into that size 32 that is a long-lost memory for you! ;-), or when they achieve that A Grade that you always wished you could growing up. The important thing is to talk about your feelings, not let them overwhelm you and try to not live vicariously through your children – get your own “life”!
  • It is important, actually vitally important, to always maintain an open, honest relationship with your children – girls need to talk even if they say they don’t! It does not always have to be a world-changing, deep, meaningful conversation – just a “Hi how are you doing?” is enough sometimes! It often feels like you are unable to “get through” to your children but you can be assured that even if they do not appear to be listening to you, they are “hearing” you. So do not ever give up, keep communicating and you will get through to them!

My July Rubybox

This post is somewhat overdue but it has been rather hectic at Super Mom HQ over the past few weeks, what with school holidays and the normal general mayhem but without further delay My July Rubybox review!

I love receiving my rubybox, all the excitement and anticipation of a little girl on Christmas morning! My July rubybox contained the following products:

  1. Beaucience Day & Night Moisture Cream, Beaucience Eye Resque Gel and Beaucience Masque – I received 3 sample sachets of the above products. Beaucience is a Botantical range of skin care, designed with the eco-conscious woman in mind, using natural organic extracts, providing the skin with pure nutrients. The Day & Night Cream is wonderfully moisturising and leaves your skin feeling smooth and silky. The Eye Gel is soothing and rather refreshing, perfect for puffy tired eyes. I must admit I have not tried the Masque yet but I think I may use it tonight.
  2. Chloé Love, Chloé Eau Intense – this perfume is wonderfully feminine, subtly floral without being too flowery. The with warm undertones of vanilla linger on your skin, with hints of a powdery, almost soapy finish. Much to my delight my good friend just arrived from the UK yesterday to present me with a full size bottle of Chloé Love – lucky me!
  3. 6-Step Nail Buffer – These always come in handy, no matter how many I buy they always seem to disappear. This one has gone straight into my handbag, for any nail emergencies on the run!
  4. Innoxa Body Lotion ~with green tea extracts – This is definitely my favourite product in this months box! It has an amazing fragrance and leaves your skin feeling wonderfully smooth. It works equally well as a hand cream.

* A bit of an extra bonus in this months box was a 20% discount voucher off your first months subscription to Lingerie Letters.
