On today’s Mani-Monday I thought I would feature my favourite nude nail polish! I have tried quite a few nude nail polishes in my time and I have to say Nails Inc Basil Street, is definitely my all-time favourite! I wear nail polish all the time and love gorgeous brights and pastels, for summer but sometimes I just feel like toning it all down and going “nude”.

A great nude nail polish, is definitely a must have shade in your nail polish collection! In my opinion, Nails Inc Basil Street, is one of those iconic shades, which every girl should own!

This pale toffee shade, applies well and is long-lasting. It does not chip easily and has a lovely glossy finish but you will definitely need at least 2 coats, for the polish to be fully opaque.

I recently posted about the new Morgan Taylor Cinderella 2015 Collection, which I think is amazing! Well today I am bringing you another awesome nail lacquer, this time from the Morgan Taylor Enchantment Collection 2015.

The Morgan Taylor Enchantment Collection is a limited-edition palette made up of six majestic shades. The six echanting shades are: Hocus Pocus (dusty mint créme), Who-Dini? (blue grey creme), I’m The Good Witch (pink copper glitter), Magician’s Assistant (soft mauve creme), Now You See Me (chocolate brown shimmer) and Simply Spellbound (nude creme).

The one, which I am sharing today is Magician’s Assistant. Magician’s Assistant is a very soft and pretty mauve créme polish, which I absolutely love! I had so many positive comments about the polish, when I posted a photo of me wearing it, on Instagram!

It is what I would call a romantic shade and would be the perfect bridal colour! It paints well and if you were in a hurry you could probably get away with one coat but the photo below is with two coats. The Morgan Taylor lacquers last very well and tend not to chip very easily.

I recently received a few new Maybelline lipsticks to review and among them was this gorgeous foursome. They are from the Maybelline Superstay 14H Megawatt Lipstick range. These lipsticks are an addition to their existing Superstay 14H range.

If you are looking for super charged electric pigments to create a statement, in your face, bold lip, then these colours are perfect! The four Megawatt colours available in SA are Neon Pink 120, Flash of Fuschia 135, Burst of Coral 455 and Red Rays 575. I must admit I have become a bit boring with my lippie of late, opting for either a nude or soft pink lip {I can hear some of you shout BORING!} Well these shades are anything but boring!

First impressions – I love the bright summery shades and the packing is cute and compact, perfect for popping in your handbag. The Maybelline Superstay 14H Megawatt Lipstick has a delicious fruity sent, which while I am not sure why, is hugely appealing to me!

Before we explore the colours a bit more lets talk about the formulation. The Maybelline Superstay 14H Megawatt Lipstick has a light-weight formulation, which when first applied, has a waxy almost lip balm like feel to it. It does however set with a matt finish.

Another note about the formulation and application, which may just be personal opinion, as I have quite dry lips but it tends to emphasise the lines on my lips. It does not have a very smooth texture, which I am used to in other matt lipsticks I wear. I will definitely need to wear a lip primer or lip balm under these lipsticks. I must admit am not a lover of “longwear” lipsticks, as I do find them quite drying.

As far as the staying power, they are highly pigment and the colour definitely lasts, even with eating and drinking, which is great. Whether it lasts 14 hours I am still to find out 😉 The colour does stain your lips, so be warned you will need either a beauty wipe or makeup remover on hand, to remove your lippie. I also think that wearing a lip liner, with the Maybelline Superstay 14H Megawatt Lipstick, creates a more even looking application but again that is personal preference!

On to the colours…

Flash of Fuchsia ~ This gorgeous hot pink is definitley my favourite out of the four! Both because of the colour and application! For some reason this particular shade looks much smoother on my lips, than the others and as you all know pink if definitely my colour!

Neon Pink ~ I do love this shade but it is the most drying on my lips and over emphasises the lines on my lips. So yay on the colour but not so yay on the finish!

Burst of Coral ~ I love coral lipstick and have had a vague obsession with it for a while! While this is not my favourite out of the four, I do not dislike it. It is also more of a pink coral, than an orange coral, which I do prefer.

Red Rays ~ Last but not least is Red Rays, which I really like! When I first had a closer look at it, I thought maybe the red was too orangey but once on, I am enjoying it more and more! I think I will definitely get a lot of wear out of this colour especially in winter.

So in closing, I really love the bright colours of the Maybelline Superstay 14H Megawatt Lipsticks and possibly I just need to get used to the slightly different formulation. The six new Morgan Taylor Cinderella 2015 Collection shades are: Party at the Palace, My Carriage Awaits, Watch Your Step, Sister!, If the Slipper Fits, Ella of a Girl and Best Ball Gown Ever.

Below are the shades I received to review:

Watch Your Step, Sister! ~ This hot pink créme shade is definitely my favourite out of the three I received! It applies really well and the colour is gorgeous for summer.

As you may know my favourite nail polish shades are usually corals or bright pinks and this is no exception. This is actually the first Morgan Taylor polish I have used for a home manicure and I was very impressed with how opaque the colour was after only two coats. The polish applied very easily with quite a high shine, it lasted really well, with no chips.

Ella of a Girl ~ This shade is what I would call a true “Princess Pink”. Ella of a Girl is a link pink créme shade, very soft and pretty – the perfect girly girl colour!

This type of shade is not usually my thing but I have fallen in love with it and received so many compliments when I wore it! I think it looks great against tanned skin, which again makes it a perfect summer polish. As far as wear and tear goes, I had it on my nails for over a week and it still looked perfect!

Best Ball Gown Ever ~ This is a pretty iridescent periwinkle shade with a golden shimmer. Depending on the light Best Ball Gown Ever, can look slightly more purple than blue.

When I first received my press pack I honestly thought I would love this polish but sadly it is my least favourite. This is very much based on my personal opinion, as a few other bloggers have raved about it. My disappointment was more about the application and finish than the colour, which I think it pretty. I found it quite difficult to apply, without ending up with visible brush-marks and when I tried to cleanup my mistakes I ended up with golden glitter everywhere. I think maybe this is not a polish for a perfectionist like me 😉 If you have tried it please let me know what you think.
