2016 was definitely a year of discovery, especially when it comes to wonderful new culinary spots! One that ranked highly on my list of favourites, was FABER Restaurant at Avondale Wine Farm, in Paarl. Franschhoek is a top wine region for eating out but Stellenbosch and Paarl regions should not be discounted, as their offering is equally as good.

I am quite a health conscious person and try to stay away from fried food, that said, bring out crispy tempura prawns, and all resistance crumbles! I was recently sent the Philips Airfryer to try out; admittedly I was a bit sceptical at first. One of the health benefits it promises is fried food with up to 80% less fat! Rocking Hellmann’s Chorizo & Maple Glazed Bacon Burger
Gone are the days when a hamburger, is merely a beef patty on a bun! Gourmet burgers have replaced the sad, somewhat tired grey patties, served on a soggy bun, with equally soggy salad items.
